Whitley MkV P5005 DY-N Repaint of the original aircraft by Edward Cook, Corrado La Posta, James Allen and Brian Hill. Particular thanks to Brian Hill for allowing me to paint over his original textures, much of which I have kept for the lower surfaces. Whitley MkV P5005 DY-N was flown by Plt Off Leonard Cheshire, (later Grp Capt VC, CO of 617 Sqn,) on a number of raids at the end of 1940. This was not his personal aircraft, as it was not RAF policy at any stage in the War to attribute a particular aircraft to a particular crew. That did not however prevent certain individuals from having a favourite kite, especially in Fighter Command. Bomber Command crews tended to share their aircraft with one or two other crews, especially at this early stage of the War when equipment was scarce.
