Thread: Attention VISTA users!!

  1. #16
It was set that way. No go.

But so I completely understand, the following steps should be taken:
    1. Copy shell.exe from OFF to CFS3
    2. Go to the CFS3 file folder, find the shell.exe and run from there.

If it were working, what should have happened?

Click on the "Shell.exe" under your CFS3 folder. Find a multiplaying game, assuming that you know the IP address, and Join!

  3. #18
If I click on the shell.exe the I get the message that I must close down CFS3.

    Oh, well.

As an extra after installing OFF P2 for our dearest VISTA Users there is a problem to getting online with CFS3 now your troubles are over for once and for all
the thing is that there is an aplication named shell on this next line:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields

That Shell aplication is your sollution copy it (DONT CUT)

    PASTE IT IN

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3

then just go to properties set these to run as administrator and set these alsow on
XP service pack 2 go out and refresh your data to make sjure go back to

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3

right klick the Shell aplication and send it to your desktop i renamed it CFS3 online
dont rename it in the properties

klick it the game will run

there is a possebillety that your fire wall will block an ip entery you need to unblock it then first.
there is alsow a possebillety that you screen settings dont give you a side bar in the in game,
just go to display settings and set these for a moment to 800x600 and back again and the problem will be gone
just klick on multiplayer tab and join a privet game here with ip connection they are posted here for game on or game off on CFS3

Enjoy and thanks OFF P2 team and Deadmeat1971 for finding out

    My Hero

Dedmeat you made my day. I flew today in cfs multiplayer for the first time since I got my new computer in March 2007. Thanks for not giving up. In addition is Is there anyone in particular on the OFF team we should thank?

I must be the only one using Vista who can't get OFF (and now thanks to the work of Deadmeat) to get CFS3 to work with multiplayer. No matter what I do, I get a mismatch message - and I'm only trying to connect to two home computers just floors away in my home. I've tried everything.

I did note in Axenti's post that there is a recommendation to set the shell compatability to both the XP Service Pack 2 and "Run as Administrator". Although I've set the shell to the Service Pack, the option to "Run as Administrator" (either in OFF or now in CFS3) is not available. (I can't click on it.) Does anyone know how to correct this and can this be related?

wsmwsm, try rightclicking the mouse on the Shell.exe file. A box should come up, choose 'Run Adminstrator' (should be located on the second line). Zoom on the picture above for details..

Coldad, I wish I could thank the one from OFF who made the multiplaying part. I did made a "Thank you" thread on the OFF forums anyway. So they should know already by now. I discovered this by 'pure luck' (I'm always a puzzle-solving kind of guy--LOL---I don't want to give up). I make maps on own anyway as a hobby (CFS3, OFF, Doom, Quake 2, Soldier of Fortune 2, etc.). I'm going to buy their Phase 3 as a 'thank you' on my part. Take care and Welcome to the Skies!!!

sometimes i get that mismatched game alsow i know it works my game that i hosted was running whole te time and it is still running now, no players do :-p anyways if you cant connect because of a missmatched game thats because there are files on your game missing (there are a set off Aircrafts that ere not in your layout when you connect to that IP, the server is carying stand allone aircraft or remodifficated files in the launch)
then you cant paly on that part

if you get the line that you cant connect because you have no connection to the internet or the host name is incorrect that part is simpel your login dusnt acnolage the IP adres a connection has to be made under T1 at all costs this part i dont know a realy answer maybe others know

with me it works fine but you have to take in a note for your selves that i had a clean install i build it up with nothing modificated.

SO IF YOU COPY THE SHELL FILE and it dusnt work and you know that you have been modificated then there may lay your problem so i dont want to make it difficult for the ones where it dont work atholl now i think you have to reinstall it all without modificating anything.

Reinstall first everything that you want from the add ons then copy the shell.exe and then modificate your games

in my mind modificating is change so not original and like i see it you need everything first clean to work fine if it works fine then you may modify

Axenti: If I understand then, I should try to uninstall, then reinstall CFS3 (in my case, on two computers) then give it another go.

I will give it a try.

i know its a lot of work but it givs a good winning feeling if you manage that
make sjure to follow every step dont pase over one step if you notice a conflict you need to start over again.

if you install it like i typed out there you will not have a conflict i dint have one

so i hope it works out for you

For those not having the OFF P2 Shell.exe. As an experiment you might want to right click the cfs3.exe and under properties select "run as administrator" and also select windows xp service pack 2 compatability mode.

I think that experiment has been tried repeatedly, rbp - the result was a raspberry every time. Hence the general rejoicing that this nut has been cracked!
