History:
No. 77 Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force served with disctinction, flying P-40 Kittyhawks in the Australia and the Pacific during the Second World War.

On 25 June 1950, the unit was committed to the United Nations force in Korea. With this deployment, Australia became the only other UN member (besides the US) to conduct operations in Korea. The squadron's Mustangs operated in the close support and interdiction roles until April 1951, when the unit re-equipped with Gloster Meteor F.8 jets.

Aircraft A68-726 was delivered to the RAAF on 2 August 1945. It was shot down near Pyongyang on 22 December 1950, the pilot PLTOFF Donald Ellis, was killed.
