Very sad... I didn't look it up, but was his son's medical issues why the family went the scientology route? I just can't imagine losing a child.....it must be just horrible..

i am at a loss as to why seemingly intelligent people fall for the scientology garbage. knowing about l.ron hubbard, and having read "dianetics" (the scientoligy bible) it was obviously garbage to me, even as a drugged out teenager in 1984.

on a related note, i was reading the news today and saw a headline
    "Travolta heartbroken over son's death"
all i could think was no duh! thank you captain obvious!!!!

Indeed, it is a tragedy that John and Kelly have lost a child. But I too, wonder if Jett's death might not have been prevented:

And if so, I also wonder if John and Kelly might take a second look at their beliefs.

Their beleifs didnt back up treatments for certain physical and mental ailments, sadly. Siezures were the issue with Jett from what I saw on TV.

Man, I know... Part of yourself passes on. I think John was into Scientology already before his son came along. I could be wrong on that.

    CheezyFlier,

I read that book also. I found it to be quite empty. Some interesting points on human memory, but I felt the rest had no 'meat' to it, no 'spirit', no glow, no fire... But thats their path, and I believe in sweet freedom.

I hope they get through this ok. Life is precious. Every moment golden.

Losing a child must be the worst thing that can happen to any parent so I fell sorry for John and his family, but if you guys really feel the need to discuss the already highly controversial scientology then I hope you will do that somewhere else, like Oso's.
A way too volatile subject for a family forum like this IMHO.

    Good call Ferry.
People are free to make their own decisions when it comes to their beliefs and lifestyles, while one may agree or disagree, this thread is about a couple losing a son.
