I had some Xrays and a MRI, last week and Monday they called me in on the results. It seems I have a nerve being slightly crushed at vertebral 29 and 32 I also have a slight curve in my spinal cord which I already knew about the curve. The surgeon told me it would be a 50/50 chance of fixing the spinal cord and removing of the nerve. Sometimes it works and other times it makes it worse, it would be up to me if I wanted to take if and further. This injury came from just a simple twisted the wrong way...lol. The doc has me on steroids,500mg of vicodin, muscle relaxer and 500mg Ibuprofen, one large back patch and a large ice pack. It seems to be working so far.

First, let me say that getting medical or legal advice in a forum really isn't the best thing to do.

I've heard very good things about inversion tables. They might take pressure off the damaged area. Ice also works wonders as it reduces swelling. Usually swelling causes the pain. A combination of inversion and icing seems to work in some cases, and it doesn't involve drugs or manipulation or surgery. Also, taking a B-100 multivitamin twice a day will help alieviate nerve pain. A B vitamin is more of a food than a drug. B vitamins are water soluble, which is why twice a day. None of these thing should hurt your back.

And walking is usually the best thing you can do for your back. It's a gentle exercise you can increase a bit each day, as you can tolerate it.

I had chronic back pain brought on by 25years of building houses. One of the Chippies I worked with had had a bad car smash, and he, after being given up on by doctors, went to an Osteopath. 5 sessions with him and he was great to work. I went to this same guy and after just the one session, I was feeling great. Every 6 months after that, I'd go see him if the back was playing up.
    Worked for me.
    Not for every condition though......

the only thing I've heard about inversion tables is the increase in stroke risk...............you better be on aspirin or some other blood thinner.
