    Mitsubishi G4M1 Betty released!

Its not quick or flashy but burns real nice when shot.... A G4M1 Betty.

I'm fighting some odd animation errors. Editng or moving a part seems to mess up one of the props or gear randomly. I got the interior and the main exterior (LOD 100) done. I'm working on the lower LODs now. I have LOD 80 done but not merged interior and the main exterior yet.

I got the nose closed up and the nose dome has more framing than the G4M2. The tail cone has been redone as well. It has a open cone that lets the tail gunner fire many angles. The open cone was a "field modification" and later came stock on production G4M1s.

I got all of the LODs done and animation errors gremlin are ironed out. Added some details like the Antenna and some VC panel details. The 2D panel, sound, textue and .DP are done as well. All that is left is the .AIR file.

    Allen,

Outstanding work! I figured it would be better to use your existing thread than to start a new one...

    Thanks all!

I do plane to keep working on it. I want to make some better pilots for the VC view and change the green framing in the VC to the blue/green seen in the rest of the cockpit.

Wow! Great work Allen. The updated detail and aircrewmen really add to the realism of the plane. The 2d and VC are also great enhancements.

Here is the updated Betty over a South Seas airbase in the vicinity of the Solomons or New Guinea.

Any plans on re-doing the B-24 Guy upgraded stock G4M2 Betty to bring it inline with your fantastic G4M1 Allen? Excellent work!

    You Did Good!

What a nice addition to my hanger. Looks great and it flies great. I am curious though. What about a bomb sight. Think it would mess things up if I pulled the bomb sight out of The B24 Guy's marvelous stock B-24 and tried it out in your G4M1?

I don't plan to. I'm still working on the G4M1 as you can see in the pics below.

The G4M1 has The B24 Guy's bomb sight. Since your asking about it something must not be working right with it. I'll look into it.

You are correct. I just didn't look carefully. Sorry for the false alarm.

I'm still working on it anyway. When I went looking into the bomb sight I decided to set it up on a toggle above the center compass so you won't have to hit ALT and go to view to get the bomb sight on. I had the fuel and range all messed up in the flight dynamics as well.

Update for VC and flight dynamics that had the fuel and range all messed up. If your using this as an AI only aircraft you should be just fine but if you are using this for a player aircraft it would be best to to redownload this if you downloaded this before 8/17/12.

    Just Curious

Allen.... a very nice bird and easy to fly, but......

Something weird happens when I use your G4M1 as an AI foe. At first I thought I might have something set wrong in "Settings". Approaching the G4M1 from a distance, I can't see anything until I get within about 800 yards. It doesn't even show up on "Tactical Display". Only the yellow target brackets give me a since of the approaching AC. By comparison the Stock G4M2 appears at a range of 9000 to 12000 yards both on the "Tactical Display", and as a small dot way off in the background scenery. Since no one else has mentioned it, I guess it's my screw-up. Any ideas?

Stealth Technology? :isadizzy:It wouldn,t be too bad to be able to reduce the distance at wich you can see an aircraft. 12000 yards seems a litlle bit too much for me.

Aircraft showing up on the "Tactical Display" is done by the game I have no control it. The aircraft not being seen like the G4M2 is likely do to the LODs. LOD 20 is "anorexia"... If viewed from the front or back you cant see much, from the side it is better.

What I can do is draw in 3 flat Octagons. One for each engine and the fuselage so when it is viewed from the front or back it looks "fatter".

This is my distance FSDS LOD for twin engine aircraft. Not sure who I stole it from but I don't believe that I took the required 10 minutes needed to actually do one . If you think that it would be of any use to you, PM me.. Actually,it is probably a little more complex than is needed.

    Allen......
Didn't mean to start you off on a project. This is a great AC, and the problem may be entirely mine. Anyway it's no big thing and I can work around it.

Thanks for the offer but I can extract the LODs from the stock G4M2 just fine. My LOD 20 was LOD 10 in the stock G4M2. I should have added the octagons long ago but went "Meh"

If you saw it so did 10+ others that didn't say any thing. Any thing below LOD 20 has no moving parts do doing changes is easy.

    EDIT:

Here is a pic. It is closer to the stock G4M2.

    Perfect!

That's it. 10,900. That gives me plenty of time to plan my attack. Thanks for the quick turnaround.
