SkyWatch - The Royal Air Force 'in action'

I just found a link to this show on another site. It's well worth watching and shows the RAF's capabilities in 1974.

Sure wish this could be made into a sticky - the F-4 material brings back a lot of memories . . .

    RAF Skywatch Circa 1974

1974 ... I was at Fort Bragg, North Carolina at the time. President Nixon was caught up in the Watergate mess, Gerald Ford became the 38th President, the Cold War was hot and the Phantoms still ruled the sky. Harriers seemed like an impossible dream.

    Just gott'a love those Phantoms!

You kind of miss the old Cold War - at least there, you knew who your enemies were and although sometimes in various places the war became a little warm, it never became really "hot" - and the powers that be on the other side kept their vassals in line and allowed them to go only so far. In some ways it was a much more secure world . . .
