    Tri-Motor Sighting!

It flew over my HOUSE! Right over my house. I was outside with the wife and dogs and heard a plane approaching. The sound of the plane was totally unlike any I had heard before....so I was actively scanning the sky looking for it. Then I saw it....off a ways....but I could tell it was something I had never seen before. Then as it got closer, I was able to make out the fixed landing gear and what looked like engines under the wings. Then it got closer.....and I was able to make them out....THREE un-cowled radial engines! And it flew right over my house!!!! Low and slow on approach to KMFD (Mansfield Lahm Regional), which is 3 miles or less from my house as the crow flies. It was painted up in pre-war markings. Could not really make out a lot of the details because the sun was overhead and really made seeing the plane difficult....but I made out the Meat Ball and Star insignia on the lower wing tips for sure.

A freaking Ford Tri-Motor flew right over my house!

As Deb and I were eating lunch...I mentioned the Airport Day at KMFD...and it turns out that it is happening RIGHT NOW....TODAY! And I have to go to work. The EAA Airventure Tri-Motor is stated to be there according to the Airport Day site....not sure if that is the Tri-Motor that flew over head or not.....if so, EAA has repainted their Ford.

Uh huh.. and it had flashing lights all around it and left a faint trail and it made this humming sound...

Did it land in the woods behind your house and leave scorch marks in the grass?

I didn't know that when they 'took' you they implanted a false memory of "going to work", but if that's what you believe...

Love it when stuff like that happens! Never had a freaking Ford fly over the house though. That's way cool!

My first flight ever was in a Tri-Motor at the (now defunct) High on Kalamazoo Air Show. Needless to say, the Tin Goose will always hold a special place in my heart.

This flew over earlier this summer. Still a trimotor, but of a slightly different kind. : )
