Manfred Jahn and team just released this beauty for FSX, the Basler BT-67, a turbo prop DC3...lol! This was such a unique specimen that I had to download and install it, boot up FSX and have a go. What a gorgeous looking plane, albeit a bit unusual. Very nice work! This would be a very nice addition to FS9, but I haven't heard of any plans to make one available, yet... anyway.

A number of years ago I saw one of these at Albuquerque, NM. I had to take a double take on it wasn't sure what I was seeing. I believe it had different engines on it. They seemed to stick out further toward the cockpit than this model, but again I could be wrong.

Taco, that could well have been Jack Conroy's Turbo Three conversion N4700C. In 1969 the C-53 was fitted with two Rolls-Royce Dart turboprops which originally belonged to an ex-United Vickers Viscount. The nacelles were ex-Viscount too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kenfielding/5551147996/ Later on this particular aircraft was, again by Conroy, converted to the Tri Turbo Three (3 Pratt & Whitney PT6 turboprops, one of them in the nose). Indeed, it was Conroy's bird. I saw it at Santa Barbara (SBA) in late '69 or possibly '70 parked alongside his shop/hangar and painted a bright yellow. I have pix, unfortunately 35mm.

Manfred had at some point mentioned he would try to make a FS9 compatible version of the Basler DC3. This first release is however a 100% native FSX model. It will not work in FS9. Flipping textures and alphas was only a workaround to make FSX textures for his C-47 work on the FS9 model of that airplane. Two entirely different things at work there.

I have no idea what Manfred's intentions are regarding the Basler for FS9. The model conversion backwards is only part of the problem as I recall.
