Marussia testdriver de Villota hurt in Duxford accident..

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ort-truck.html

Apparently she returned from her first run, drove the car into a makeshift pit area but ran into the anti-stall which caused the car to accelerate and sent her into the back of a team truck. Her helmet struck the loading ramp of the truck with full force...

    OUCH!

I hope she is not too badly injured and that she makes a full recovery.

I can't help wondering why the anti-stall device was active in the pit area though. I would have thought that was only used on track and would be switchable on/off otherwise you would never be able to stop.

Seems it's not an uncommon mistake for rookie drivers to make. If you don't put the gear in neutral the car will accelerate again if the RPM drops below stationary (Which is about 3,000 rpm for an F1 engine as they do not have a flywheel!) because the anti-stall kicks in.

Of course on a real race track there are no trucks in the pit area..

If that's all she's lost she's still somewhat 'lucky' as she basically stopped a speeding F1 car when her skull impacted with a loading ramp......
