    Mayberry needs a Sheriff.....

Andy Griffith passes at 86.....Show got it's start with a guest spot with Andy on the Danny Thomas show.

Show had lots of memorable characters and good humor for all. Spanned a couple of spinoffs, but they never
captured the flavor of the original.

Requisiat in pacem Andy. It was a genuine joy to have grown up as one of your many unknown students. Thanks for being such a terrific mentor.

While not as funny as NTFS, "Onionhead" was a good one as well!

i totally have to agree. the world is a somewhat lesser place without him in it.
ever notice how dog-gone funny that show was, without any of the off color stuff that makes us laugh these days? man, i really dug that show, and not even because of how funny it was.
i loved it because i've always wanted to live somewhere like mayberry, and know people like andy and aunt bea and the rest.

    I keep telling my wife....

For years I've said in the afterlife I want to live in Mayberry. I can be Emmett, the fix-it guy.

Although he is best remembered for his role as Andy Taylor, the sheriff of Mayberry in a TV Sitcom, he was very good in more serious roles. Ron Howard has nothing but positive things to say about his experience working with him. He was also successful with the courtroom drama "Matlock" from 1986 to 1995. His first movie "A Face in the Crowd" directed by the great, Elia Kazan and co-starring Patricia Neal and Walter Mathau is stunning. His character Larry "Lonesome" Rhodes is very different from how we came to remember Andy Griffith. Great acting work none the less but I, like most people, will remember him in his comedic roles.

There is a great quote sometimes attributed to the great English Shakespearean actor of the late 18th and early 19th century, Edmund Kean. "Dying is easy, comedy is hard." Mr. Griffith made comedy seem easy.

TV actor or not I made it part of raising my kids to add a dash of father Andy Taylor to my repertoire. You just can't go wrong.

Same here, I've seen every episode of the Andy Griffith Show dozens and dozens of times. Each show is very entertaining and usually there is a message of morality and character embedded within the plot. Many times when faced with issues I think, "what would Andy do?"
