Thread: Defense of Australia

Seagull,Thanks for the links but I've already decided on what missions I'll be doing. My last count was 27 or 28 missions,I may add more but not sure.

I found a link about the 75th's CO John Jackson, that's how I found the second Kittyhawk attack on Lae on April 4,1942.I also had to rewrite the firts attack on Lae on March 22,1942.Jackson's aircraft actually attack from the east as the sun was rising. This put the sun behind them and they were harder to detact as they approached.

There will be 2 sets of missions.

    1) This set will use both Lindsay Watts P-40E and the FDG P-40E.

With Lindsays your flight will use his P-40 while the AI use the FDG P-40. In my own personal missions I use Lindsays P-40 except for the parked planes.I have no FPS issues.

    2) Only the FDG P-40E will be used. I know some people have issues with Lindsays P-40.

Rami will be putting up my Port Morseby ports soon and they will be used in the Campaign.

Since I am on vacation I plan on doing at least 1 mission aday and expect to have the campaign done in about 2 to 3 weeks.

    Al,

As I said to you tonight, this has always been one of the most popular stories and campaign themes of CFS2. Given the response in this thread and what we already discussed, anything you can do to flush out more of the story can only be a good thing!

I didn't quite get to Port Moresby tonight, but tomorrow is another day.

    TALON

I know that you usually do this, but will there be a listing of required objects, downloads etc, with links, in the "Read-ME". I have found that some updates have some oblique references that leave out some requireds and really cause headaches and a lot of "help me!! messages" here.
Are you underway and "hull down" now?

Fibber,If you have Rami's version you will have most everything.I mostly added some ships for the Ports.

I might wait until the archives library job is done.I usually just put what you need and the link to the site to find it.

We've been in Tahiti for a couple of weeks now and are enjoying it/Will be back in September sometime. I will doing these missions as I have time.Hopefully they will be done in a few weeks.

    Now I understand..

I thought that you were doing a COMPLETE rework. Now I get it as a revamp of Ramis. I guess that is what happens when I jump into the middle of something and land on "Johnny and the twins".
I will now sit back and go into my envy mode.

    Fibber,

This will be a complete rework of DoA.So far of the 15 missions I have done only 2 are the same.I have been rewriting missions to make them more historical. There will be 18 historical missions in this campaign,14 of them are brand new and not reworks. Now if you had read all I said in this thread I said I was filling in some of the blanks of DoA.

What I meant by saying most of the stuff is in Rami's readme is That I amd using some of the same planes, ships and other objects.

I did discuss what I was doing with Rami and he is all for it,he even mentioned that in this thread.

    Al,

I moved your Port Moresby GSL file to the top of the Rami-do list, expect it tonight.

EDIT: It is uploaded, including a readme with all the trimmings.

    Updating you on progress,

I have 20 missions done so far and have decided to make this a dynamic campaign,What this means in the Escort missions of the A-24s ( 2 missions ) and B-25s you have 50% chance of flying either the bomber or the P-40.

After April 8,1942 the missions will get harder as the Tinian Kokutai fighter wing was operational at Lae.This was fighter wing of Japanese Aces and the Zeros will be set to Ace.In a few missions you will be up against just Zeros as they attack the airfields and Harbor, It will make life a little more interesting.

I'm most definitely interested too Talon. Looking forward to it as a matter of fact. Thank you for sharing your work

    Another update

24 Missions are done. The last 1 you go against 12 Zeros with 6 Kittyhawks.6 Zeros attack the airfields and Harbor while the other 6 fly top cover. All are set to ACES. I survived getting 5 kilss but lost 3 Kittyhawks. In the actual battle 3 Kittyhawks were lost. It was a fun mission to fly.

I have 4 more missions to go.

I made some missions with no warp to the way point you have to go to after takeoff. You have to reach a certain altittude and it can be tough.
I also made the goals reasonable.

    Port Moresby's Looking Good

Took me a while to fix a persistent problem with the AF_PNG_PM scenery texture, but with that accomplished your "Port Moresby GSL" loaded up like a champ. Very Nice.
