    Sweet Matt!

The gunsight was never fitted to the prototype, only to the mock up it seems. One thing that's missing though is a steel bar that ran across the engine outlet just below the windscreen on the right side of the prototype. (Left side too maybe, but very photos survive of that side of the aircraft..). To prevent the pilot from getting chopped up by the rear prop he would have to climb out of the cockpit (In case of emergency) and use this bar to climb down so he could get out of reach of that prop!

Edit: Both sides, you can clearly see it here :http://www.dutch-aviation.nl/picture...oesterberg.JPG

Awesome job as always Matt. Your WIP shot on FB showed something I have yet to be able to get to work. . .the flaps. I have the flaps mapped to a button on my CH throttle, but I can't get them to deploy on this airplane. Your WIP shot shows them open. . . .how?

Can you imaging having to navigate that procedure in a real emergency? Good Grief! Sounds more like something they came up with just prior to flight tests. . . . ."uh. . .by the way. . .if I have to bail out of this thing. . . .you know, with that rear prop and all. . . .anybody got any ideas"? lol

Where can one download a file with the vc as shown??? Also, Matt, did you redid the whole aircraft as
it so appears on your WIP takes? Please advise...

I got MikeZola's air and cfg files working; turns out I had to set up the folder where the files went so it would show extensions. At that point it was cake.
All in all the files are pretty good but still a bit hot in the initial acceleration--I feel like I could take on a Bugatti Veryon on the runway. Acceleration still falls off dramatically after 150-175 kts and that's not bad. Top end is pretty close to what the real thing could do--somewhere around 280 kts--and that is faster than the aforementioned Veryon
I did put on differential braking to help with maneuvering on the tarmac
(add this line to the .cfg file under [brakes]: differential_braking_scale = 1.0)

I do have a sort of a technical question about the Fokker D.XXIII...
That cylindrical thing right behind the pilot...is that really the gas tank? Gives me the heebie-jeebies thinking of that much avgas sitting right behind me.
Also, I think the whole rear prop and bailing out issue was addressed with the Do-335 Pfeil...while there was an ejection seat didn't the prop blades detach via explosive charge? Or am I thinking of another aircraft with a pusher prop?

Head over to Flightsim.com and do a search for fokker_dxxiii.zip. This is the package being shown in this thread.

Three models (clean, centerline tank, and tank plus gunpods), painted in Finnish colors...

I just did. Niiice, very niiice. The HUD in the gunsight is a very nice touch in light of his views. It's good to see him back in the saddle making planes.

    WOW...

First, thank you Ferry- I never would have guessed that photo was actually showing a feeding mechanism for the machine gun... if they tested it, that would have had to be interesting...

Falcon- enter a pressure into the hydraulics section of aircraft.cfg and the flaps will work (Ito's left that out before)...

Matt- those paint jobs look superb! Speaking of what-if schemes, did you notice the decal kits for models of this thing that offer KNIL and captured Japanese markings?

Drzook- If you like the Gustav out of the box, go into aircraft.cfg, edit the piston engine section to bring it more in line to DB 605 specs ( for some reason, it's a little de-tuned compared to other 109's I looked at), and add a flight tuning section so you can increase aileron and elevator effectiveness-
the result flies as nice as any 109 available!
