Landing Lights that Illuminate Terrain

Awhile back someone was working on landing lights that would illuminate the runway. Did anyone ever solve that problem?

Yes, look into ETO for the US Beaufighters Night Fighter missions. Don't remember who made them.

There might be a misunderstanding here, those missions feature the runway lights but I believe Lewis wants the landing light effect that once was in progress, our current landing light only illuminates buildings, aircraft, vehicles etc. but a solution was being found at one point. I don't know if it ever did.

Yes I was looking for a light that illuminates terrain i.e. the runway. I recall someone was working on that but I don't remember who or what the final status was.
