    Bangor International Airport

Does this airport have the best emergency response team in the world?
I bet they have a few tales to tell, it's the first US landfall for westbound transatlantic flights.
Today, they received a US Airways B767 accompanied by an escort of two F-15s

Well, it pretty much has to. Considering how important Bangor is to Atalantic Travel

    Good evening,

Bangor International was formerly shared with a former Air Force Reserve base, it is on the "Great Circle Route" from Europe, being the first suitable airfield accessible in the Northeastern U.S., and it has a runway of over 11,500 feet. That makes it ideally suited for emergency situations.

"Of course it's clear. Every American has the right to hang a pair of bear arms on their wall. How can that possibly be misconstrued?"

you could land some pretty serious stuff on a runway that long.

for example, that's 293 cubs if my math is right

Try walking around the airport perimeter sometime. Did that back in 03 at the airshow. Loooong walk from the only parking place I could find to the air guard base entrance. Bangor is still home to the Maine Air National Guard's KC-135's.

Take my love, take my land, Take me where I cannot stand.I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, Tell them I ain't comin' back. Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me. There's no place I can be.
Since I found Serenity. But you can't take the sky from me...
