    Hi Gecko

You're right on the Bf109E's and G's. AFAIK, although there were testflights with the MC202 and there were some contacts between Swiss and Italian authorities about purchasing some of these birds, it didn't happen in the end.

The Swiss ariforce also flew some MS406 and Bf109D's. Most of the 109E's were licence-built in Switzerland.

But there were also some other planes that were tested by Swiss pilots. Many allied pilots whose planes were damaged over Germany or Italy tried to make it across the Swiss border for an emergency landing or bailout. Many of the planes were then repaired and used for testflights.

After the armistice in 1943 a few Italian pilots escaped to Switzerland with their airplanes.

    Cheers

Is this a paint for the new E-model?

Interesting, I'm learning a lot here. Also, I found some Swiss MS.406s by Nigel, so it sounds like between those and the Emil we will be in pretty good shape. It looks like the skin is for the West 40 E-3 released in ETO, based on the MAW E-4. It seems the Swiss used the E models into the 1950s, but got rid of the G-6s years before that as they weren't of very good production quality.

Yea it's the W40 E-3, skin needs tweaking, but won't take long!
Did this out of my own curiosity a long time ago, didn't think there would be any interest for it, guess I was wrong! lol

I've got interest in just about anything related to these birds, and if I've not heard of it, I'm interested when I find out.

Sorry to disappoint, but the MAW 109 E-series is John's territory! The only skins I did are a couple of Yugoslav ones for a prototype 109E from MAW which was scrapped and replaced, and then the 'current issue' E-4 pretending to be an E-1. Not for public issue, as they are very old ones from the MAW development period and not up to my current standard.

Looks as though John has it well covered!

a Yugoslavian Emil??!! I have in mind to build a couple of missions for MAW to cover the invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941 and this one would be a must have.
This project is not on the top of the to do list.

If I were you, I'd ask John. I don't have a decent template for the MAW/W40 E-1, while it would take John a matter of minutes - well, compared to going from scratch - to do one from his existing stock!
