    SAAF Canberra T.4 repaints

    Evening all,

at long last I have finally sat down and done some FS again! In this case I decided to indulge in some repainting fun with the subject being two Canberra T.4s of the South African Air Force. Now, I know Jens-Ole has done some superb versions for the Alphasim model, but I thought I'd do the same for my own. They will be available soon, but for now I took them on a little jaunt over Cape Town - both are from 12 Sqn, SAAF.

Firstly, '459' in original High Speed Silver and Day Glo scheme from the 60s:

    Some high-jinks (naughty pupil pilot!)

Then '458' in late-era PRU Blue scheme:

    Coming back in:

    On finals:

Tucked up - natty engine blanks the SAAF used, eh?:

And 459 is in for some maintenance:

These are both for the T.4 model here: http://www.flyingstations.com/canber...-trainers.html but for the rivet counters (me included) 458 would go better with the Peruvian T.74 model I built, as this has the more accurate, late-era UHF aerial. Incidentally 458 was supplied to the Peruvians directly from SAAF in the 90s.

I admit I am a sucker for Day Glo orange and anything PRU Blue. Good on the SAAF to use two of my favourite schemes! I hope to have them uploaded tonight.

Cool, post some pics when you do take that hop. I've kind of neglected the T.4 oddly enough (perhaps because I painted a million of them for the old Paul Foster models!) but there are a wealth of nice schemes for them that is luring me back. I also want to do some more Aussie B.20s.

Well, here you go - I would have gotten the approach & landing but the machine had a sudden CTD from FS9, not sure what the problem is . . . but I will switch to gaming mode next time I do this. At any rate, here you are:

Nice painting, but unfortunately the VC are still not well look out
I need a good solution because it annoys!

Zsolts, no fixes right now for the T.4 glass issue you are having...it may depend on the graphics card you have...on mine it is not too bad. Sorry though, future releases will show improvement in these weaker areas.

SSI01 - love the screens! Cape Town is fast becoming an area I need to spend some more virtual time in...

Happy to oblige! Do you recommend any scenery for Cape Town or South Africa or Rhodesia (as it used to be called)?

Do a search for Harare...there is a nice freeware scenery for this but I forget where now. It has New Sarum over the other side of the main runway as it should be. I started to add some detail to this using EZ Scenery but lost it all in a crash recently. That's something for Rhodesia at least but I only have stock for SA, perhaps some one else can offer ideas.

For South Africa search at Avsim for "aeroworx" and you will be rewarded with multitudinous goodies.

What we are missing in FS9 is Thornhill AB, which (I believe) may now be called Gweru?
