New Sim - so far helicopters only

I haven't seen any mention of this in the forums here so here it is...

"Now available at the FS Pilot Shop, Take On Helicopters is the brand new helicopter game from Bohemia Interactive. Set above beautifully rich landscapes, it challenges players to master an authentic flight model, immersing the player in the role of a civilian helicopter pilot.

Take your first steps towards mastering rotor-wing flight across a massive range of enjoyable challenges, or create your own missions using the powerful easy-to-use mission editor. Take to the air above two beautifully rich and expansive environments, based upon real-world North American and South Asian terrain-data. Take on cutting-edge technology, helicopters modelled in stunning detail, a large-scale, open-world sandbox and authentic flight dynamics... Take On Helicopters!"

    $49.99 US

A flyable, limited demo is available ( haven't tried it yet)

apparently it is somewhat modifiable and already there are a few bits up online

Also found an interesting take on the anti-piracy issue on their website

This seems more to be a combat game, rather than a simulator.
    The graphics look great though.
The price on the developer site is only $16.99!
Well worth it if you're into this kind of stuff! (Not me).

The base game isn't a combat sim. the technology it is based on came from the Arma franchise of combat games.

Bohemian Interactive just released the first expansion, Take On Helicopters: Hind, which is around $17. It is not a stand alone product, you need to have the base game which itself is $50. There is a free demo available on there website of the base game.

Helicopters ARE unstable ( something often said about those who fly them frequently too..)

Yes, but being able to take off or land wherever you want makes up for it, for me.

"Take On Helicopters" has been out since October 2011.
As BPbobafett1982 mentioned, the Hind add on was just recently released.

As to the flight model, it may differ from the demo to the retail version, just guessing as I run the retail version.
I know that a few patches have been released in the past few months and the flight modelling has gotten better.
A lot of real world helicopter pilots have been adding their input and Bohemia Interactive listens.
But it also is geared as to being a 'career' style game, meaning you fly jobs to keep the family business afloat.

I like it, but I am biased being a rotorhead.
The flight model suits me just fine.
I would offer, in my opinion, it does require a fairly new, good, fast computer to run it well with the eye candy turned on.
