    Gentlemen there is no need to go over to Britsim for the Bristol Centaurus soundset (they kindly asked for the sounds when I originally released them HERE at SimOuthouse).

    For those wondering about the engine mods - these do NOT affect anything except the way the sounds are played, though the modifications were purpose-made for the very fine Sea Fury models by David Hanvey, Paul Barry, Jerry Beckwith and Jan Rosenberg for fs9.

    An all new Hawker Seafury soundpack is in the pipeline, though due to an already busy schedule of work for ongoing projects with Milton Shupe, this will most likely appear later in the year.

    Bristol Centaurus soundset by Nigel Richards

    For the Hawker Seafury

    I am indebt to Paul Barry whose kind permission for the use of the starter/tickover sequence, making this soundset all the more authentic.
    Indeed, full credit goes to David Hanvey, Paul Barry, Jerry Beckwith and Jan Rosenberg for creating such an outstanding set of Hawker Seafury models that inspired these sounds. Peter Forster was responsible for the impressive update.

    These sounds are as close to the Seafury's sounds as I could make them.

    If you follow the thread back you will find those mods will have a effect on the Sea Fury as released.

    idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=1.000000
    max_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000000
    idle_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000000
    supercharged=1
    supercharger_boost_low_end= 1.000
    supercharger_boost_high_end= 4.200
    supercharger_power_cost= 0.100

    Turbocharger = turbocharged=0 0 turbo charger disabled

    replaced by

    supercharged=1
    supercharger_boost_low_end= 1.000
    supercharger_boost_high_end= 4.200
    supercharger_power_cost= 0.100

    required for various bits of this Sea fury to work correctly

    Even in Fs9 altering settings in Piston engine will to some extent alter flight performance.

    Just to make sure every one knows the Flying Stations Sea Fury is a new native FSX Accel model not a portover .

    Gentlemen

    As I have stated: the modifications were specifically intended for the excellent FS9 version of the Sea Fury, by David Hanvey, Paul Barry, Jerry Beckwith and Jan Rosenberg.

    I would neither suggest nor recommend such mods for the FSX model. All the more so in view of not having flown or tested the model in question.

    My intention was merely to draw attention to the existence of the Bristol Centaurus sounset in the SimOuthouse archives, with the sole purpose of increasing simmers flying experience.

    Happy flying

    nigel, you know that and I know that but people will go for alternative sounds, airfile and anything else you can think of without thought then go to the model author for a fix.

    Flying Stations have not recommended your sound set up is not used just that Piston Engine section mod as it messes up the model working, we are quite happy for them to use your sound set as long as they do'nt come back on Flying Stations.

    For various reasons Skippy has changed the centaurus.dll which controls the engine operation about 6 times to cater for different setups.

    Actually your sound is ok without that Piston engine mod.

    This is just frackin' jaw-dropping!! And for less than 10GBP??!! I can actually carrier land it every time and it doesn't matter where as long as I'm in the cable zone. None of this tipping over or nosing over - absolutely brilliant!! With Nigel's sound set it really is like being at Duxford on fly-by. And cat launches are a thrill ride - raise the hairs on yer neck!

    I noticed (unless I'm blind, which is probable!) there's no tailhook entry in the aircraft.cfg file, but there is launch assistance. Is that why it works so well on AI carriers?

    Well done to all concerned and thanks a million!

    DaveQ

    I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.

    Hi Dave, the hook settings are written into the model, you can in fact write settings into the aircraft.cfg which will overide the model settings, everything is working here so leave it alone, there is nothing magic here to give good catches just the hook correctly placed.
