    Dunkerque

    Happy New Year to everybody
    Downloaded Rami's fine campaign Dunkerque, got the message "can't find the Wep_Prbase300 but it slipped into my mind that it could be found on a site of Paul Rebuffat BF109 "Harder" so I downloaded the objects dp. and weapons scenery bgl. files but then the system claimed that it could not find the file
    wep_500lb_bomb.I have seen this message in other campaigns but just said ok and continued and the campaign loaded ok but in the latter case it will not load without this paricular weapon. Where can I find it ? It is not a part of any weapon system neither English nor German. The subject might have been up before but if you look at my age,you will understand that my memory is not what it used to be.

    Dunkerque,

    The weapons except for the Paul Rebuffat PR base Spitfire are all stock. You may want to try deleting the .cdp file.

    Here you go, they are both in here. One other thing, go into your mdlnames.txt file in main CFS2 folder and add them there.

    Thanks a lot. Please tell me the text to be put in mdlnames.tex i.e. "Wep_500 lb_bomb"= ? and "Wep_Prbase 300"= ?. Should nothing be found in SCENEDB/weapons/scenery and teture?

    Killer Svend,

    You have stated that you already downloaded the weapons, so the .bgl files should already be in the scenedb\weapons\scenery folder and the texture bitmap (.bmp) scenedb\weapons\texture folder. The objects_dp that Devildog73 gave you in that package go into the Objects_dp folder.

    Angry Dunkerque Campaign

    Hi Brothers in Space
    I downloaded this campaign and I was VERY carefull following all instructions and when press fly now I got the message :Error loading mission file etc.

    I have seen this before (many times) but this was caused by some items was missing. Her you are getting the message immediately leaving the old amateur in the deep sh.. without a change to find the reason why I get this short and laconic message. I have the most og Rami's fine campaigns installed and do the following: I have a clean cfs2 installed on my C/drive and if I install a new campaign I copy it to my F/drive (external HDD) and filling in the nessecary downloads. In most of the cases it works fine but this is the second time I try to install Donkeque and with the same result.I WHANT TO PLAY THIS CAMPAIGN !!!!!! Is it a "build-in bug in this campaign ?? or what. any help most appreciated.

    Killer Svend,

    One thing that I would point out is that I use a "common core" of aircraft, airfields, and objects for each theatre, so if you are doing a fresh install for each campaign you want to fly, you're doing an enormous amount of additional work. In most cases, I use the same .dp files and other materials with each campaign.

    There are "mega" campaigns in each of the two theatres in the the Early and Late ETO (Battle of Britain, and Battle for Europe) that are the largest and the most time-consuming to install. Most of the other campaigns are built off of those two campaigns. For example, if you have installed the Battle of Britain, there is not much you would need to fly the Dunkerque campaign.

    With regard to the error message, I went back and checked each mission file to make sure I did not do anything stupid, (like transposing numbers or something) and I could not find anything which would cause a mission not to work. I loaded each mission in mission builder and in the regular game just to be on the safe side, and again, everything checked out.

    Sometimes, the weapons on an aircraft might do that. The best idea at this point might be to check all of the aircraft and make sure they all show up in free flight, and that they're not missing any weapons. The same idea should be applied for the airbases.

    Without seeing your screen and identifying what the problem is, that's really the best advice I have right now. I'm sorry the experience is so frustrating, but if I do find any errors, I will be sure to inform you.

    Look for the planes

    I had the same problem, but by opening the mission (in this case number one) I found the problem to be with one of my planes, though named the same was actually different from the one Rami used - changing that immidiately solved the problem, and I had no problem all the way though this wonderful campaign. Actually I tried both editing the missions in a campaign I called nr2 and using my first plane - that worked fine, but I had to edit most missions after- and changing the plane, which is by far the easiest. After all, most of the time Rami knows what he is doing :-)
    It is a great short campaign, please enjoy.

    I have a fully BoB campaign installed and ALL Campaigns and missions are working perfect, I took the Dunkerque campaign and dropped it in the the BoB Campaign, added a new pilot name and asked it to fly now . Can you guess the answer I got, yes you are right "Error loading mission file -etc." What the H... is wrong??? This is a ten tousand dollar question (I am not gonna pay if somebody solve the problem)

    In your main CFS2 directory there's an obscure little file named 'error.log'. It records the last mission loading error encountered and tells you what went wrong. Let's give it a gander...

    Killer Svend,

    I have an idea. Someone mentioned once that the root cause of their problem had to do with a MISC_DATA section of the .dp file. Checking this, I came across what MIGHT be the cause of your issue.

    For the AH Spitfires, the MISC_DATA section of the .dp file looks like this...

    [MISC_DATA]
    unit_family=1
    category=1
    allegiance=1
    max_group_size=8
    min_speed=140
    cruise_speed=445
    max_speed=602
    min_alt=50
    cruise_alt=6500
    max_alt=11280
    entered_service=4/1/41
    crew=1

    I think the "entered_service" line is your bugaboo, as they say.

    Let's try changing it to this...

    [MISC_DATA]
    unit_family=1
    category=1
    allegiance=1
    max_group_size=8
    min_speed=140
    cruise_speed=445
    max_speed=602
    min_alt=50
    cruise_alt=6500
    max_alt=11280
    entered_service=5/3/36
    crew=1

    You will also want to make the same adjustments to the Hawker Hurricane. Change it from this...

    [MISC_DATA]
    unit_family=1
    category=1
    allegiance=1
    max_group_size=8
    min_speed=360
    cruise_speed=392
    max_speed=528
    min_alt=50
    cruise_alt=6000
    max_alt=11000
    entered_service=11/1/41
    crew=1

    To this...

    [MISC_DATA]
    unit_family=1
    category=1
    allegiance=1
    max_group_size=8
    min_speed=360
    cruise_speed=392
    max_speed=528
    min_alt=50
    cruise_alt=6000
    max_alt=11000
    entered_service=6/11/35
    crew=1

    This should be the same on all of the Hurricane models. Let me know if this works, and if it does, I will make the appropriate modifications.

    Rami,

    I tried to make the changes in Hurri and Spits but it did'nt made any success. I then downloaded the Battle of France (RAF) put the campaign files in the the Dunkerque game and voila-I was able to play this, however with a few additional ad-ons the Gloster Gladiator, the Stuka and the Fairey Battle. By the way I have allways wondered why the links to Fairey Battle is giving me a P82 Defiant so this time I also downloaded Ed Padbury's Fairey Battle and when flying it in free flight it made the protest could not find the wep_PAH250lbs.dp, PAH30lbs.dp and PAHpylons. I can find his planes but not his weapons,\do you have a link?

    So my conclusion must be that the problem is in the campaign files itself not in the planes as Battle of France (RAF) is operating perfect in the same game as Dunkerque and this game is still not working.

    Killer Svend,

    Did you remember to delete the .cdp files when you made the adjustments to the .dp file? Other than that, I am out of ideas, but I'll take yet another look at it.

    You were right about the Fairey Battle, this is the link from the Battle of France (RAF)

    Lastly, you’ll need the Fairey Battle

    Note: Obio provided a .dp for this aircraft that will fix problems encountered with the original .dp. Please feel free to use it, as long as you download the “British weapons” from the Groundcrew site.
