Nice flight following the river (IFR/I Follow Rivers) to Niamey. Now to break out the maps and figure out where to go from here. (I only did flight plans to this point before the race)

Out of the desert and over a wooded countryside. Visibility has cleared. Nice day for flying now.

From what I'm hearing, I got out of the Sahara just in time. Sandstorms have kicked up. I had one flying out of Niamey, but once I got out of the desert, the visibility cleared right up.

Well I found Fred and poured him into the right seat, took off and headed south to Cameroon. Kind of a longish flight that the last good bit was in thunderstorms and I just picked the first runway I found at Doula which happened to be closed. Landed on it anyway and was glad to be there. I thought the turbulence was going to shake my floaties off. Anyway another successfull flight into the log book....

Had a slight problem with customs that took a couple of days to clear up. They weren't too crazy about my cargo. Especially the big crate marked "Nitroglycerine". A little baksheesh in the right places and it's all good now.

Thunderstorms all along the coast. The Beech was bouncing enough that I was starting to get worried about my nitroglycerine crate. Made it in just fine though...

My original plan was leave Cameroon and head on down the coast to FCPP at the mouth of the Congo. But I think I'll just cut that corner and go direct to Leopoldsville in the Belgian Congo (FZAB).
