Well that wasn't too bad. I kept on course and when it got to be about time, I spotted a couple of dark spots that looked like they could be towns and DAUA was just a little off to the side of them. Was on the SOH Flight Server chatting with Moses most of the way so the time passed pretty quickly.

I did spot this odd looking aircraft taxiing and then taking off as I was landing. (had to land on the dirt as it was hogging the runway) I hope those passengers didn't pay too much for those "seats".

You making some fine time in the Beech Willy ... you both actually appear comfortable in these surroundings.

Interesting model of the "Phoenix" .... is that a one of or is it available somewhere?

Careful kickin' them floats on your "pretrips" .... especially if you're wearing flip - flops out here in the sand.

The Phoenix was packaged in with a C-82 Packet in the movie's paint scheme. Odds are very good I got it at Flight Sim. Just dug into it's files and it was by Daisuke Yamamoto.

When I was setting up my custom AI, I put a lot of strange things in there that I'd found and forgot about over time. This was one of them. I do remember a pterodactyl in the Amazon and the Beatles Yellow Submarine in Liverpool though.

I've got enough time in the Beech that now it's like a well worn favorite pair of shoes. But mostly in the landplane version.

Sitting at DAUA with maps spread out all over the place that seem to be consistant in using the word "Unexplored" for the Sahara. One of these days, I need to hire a navigator, but that would cut into the profits. And my so called copilot, Fred, while good at security in tense situations, for everything else he's usually passed out in the right seat. But he works cheap, likes to travel and is a deadly shot with everything I've seen him pick up.

There are rumors of an runway at someplace south of here called Mokhtar, but there's no support there to be had. Could come in handy in a sand storm though (if I can find it). Problem is that the Beech don't have the range for a direct flight to Niamey so I'm going to have to set down somewhere where I can find some avgas.

Decisions, Decisions..... Off to see what kind of info I can find on likely airfields...

Congrats on your excellent run. Here's some music on the radio to navigate across the Sahara to.

    LOL!

Fred wants to paint the name "Lady Be Good" on the nose of the Beech. I'm thinking that would be pressing our luck...

The old saying goes, plans only last as long as first contact with the enemy. The enemy in this case being range. The closer I got to Mokhtar, the worse my chances of making it to Gao looked. Eventually, it got to the point that if I did continue on, I'd be on fumes if I got there, so I decided to take the penalty and land at Mokhtar (It's not like there's anywhere else to land out here). Now to find those gas drums and hope the stuff aint went bad.

But I did get here just in time for the Sahara Seaplane Symposium.

Found the gas and refueled. But the beer that was left here for us is hot! Time to go on to Gao where the beer might be cooler.

That was an interesting flight. I was on the SOH server and was talking to a guy that was flying Prepar3d using FS Host server.

Anyway, made it to Gao without a hitch. Spotted the town from a ways off and went over to it and there was the airfield. Easy peasy. It's scary when things go that right...

Willy, did he mention having to do anything extra in order to connect ... or was he able to simply type SOH's IP in the search box and join?
