Need to take some time to review the log books, decide on the route from here, and make a forecast.

    Arrived Principe.

So far most of my flights have been routine. Today's flight was different. Took off just before sunrise and enjoyed the dawn. Crossing Congo into Gabon the clouds became heavier and I noticed the occasional flash of lightning. As I approached the Gulf of Guinea the turbulance began and got very heavy. Airspeed began to decay. I turned on the anti-icing boots and inertial separator and speed picked back up. But I was getting bounced around pretty good.

Making your precision time the same as your reference time....interesting strategy!

Pilot Report: Visibility very good above 6000, Hazy at 4000, and very hazy at 2000 and below. Airport has excellent and very bright lead in landing lights on runway 9. Easy to see at a considerable distance. For VFR pilots the Niger river is the most prominant landmark and goes right through the town.

    Arrived Bechar.

I should have checked the winds aloft charts before starting this leg. The two thirds of the route were as expected but about 400 miles out I encountered significant headwinds. I had to continually increase the throttle to maintain my target ground speed. 31knt headwinds, then 37knt headwinds, finally maxing out at 57knt headwinds. I was running full throttle and could not maintain my target speed. 150 miles out I started my descent to try to get under the worst of the winds. When I arrived in Bechar I had missed my flight plan time by three minutes.
