Okay, so we've all found our real attachments...

    Smilo, BB686, Maarten, Milton, Cees, Matt, huub vink, Willy, aeromed202....all of you amazing people;

Where else would you see such a positive turnaround such as this?

We lose a few pics, have a good old grumble and wind up singing together.
(Smilo; the magic is not mine, its working just fine for all of us, you too Sir)

I guess the only real attachments we'll ever need around SOH are eachother.

Smilo; there's been no real harm done and yes, we'll all be posting up a whole new crop of pics with which to wow one, another.

So may I remind all you great people of a note that seems to bind us all together here...

Into the distance - a ribbon of black,
stretched to the point of no turning back.

A flight of fancy, on a windswept field,
standing alone, my sense is real.

A fatal attraction, is holding me fast,
how can I escape its irresistible grasp?

Can't keep my eyes from the circling sky,
    Tongue-tied and twisted - just an Earth-bound misfit, I...

I guess we need to go back to periodically reminding people to clean out their attachments.

    Cees

Last I heard from Ickie on the subject was that the forum software has a limit of 75 gig in attachments. If we exceed that, the forums dump all of the attachments. My guess is that they're gone.

How much of that 75 Gig you claiming Cees ?

No single person was responsible for the overload of attachments. Everyone who uses that feature made some contribution to it. I suspect very few of us go back into their attachments to do some periodic pruning.

    Let's please keep this civil.

I merely responded to a few remarks of MaddogK, which he wisely removed.

It's cool Willy, thats why I removed my earlier comment- that war was fought in a different thread (that I didn't participate in). Remember I was the one who reminded the race team to prune their attachment histories to ensure we had room to attach our duenna posts. Now my history is completely empty, and I never updated (replaced) my library offering, more room for others on this site to post. I won't be offering my wares here, never intended to use this site that way.

There was no one spared regarding the attachments. We all lost them. Not a major deal to me; we just move forward, build a new stash. :-)

Canelo_Kid worked 7 days straight trying to recover them, Ickie and he then followed through with other approaches. They did yeomen's work for the site but unfortunately could not recover the indexes/metadata/connections.

The milk was "spilt" long ago. How long shall we grieve. :-)

    Focus forward, fly, create, enjoy.

yup past is the past, it happened, can't change it now, if i borrow a paraphrased paragraph from my book i'm writing...

We, like the Spartans of old, must stand as one, lock shields and face our challenges head on, Dorys ready to thrust forwards, always marching on as one solid impenetrable unit... for we know our strength is in our teamwork, each warrior helping another, unfaltering, unpeturbed by the issue at hand, the ranking officers amongst us hard at work on thinking how we can win this, as one, as a team! and remember..... Teamwork, this is not a byword... this is what we all do almost daily on these forums, we help others out.... and if anyone asks us to lay down our tools of the trade there is a handy phrase, you all should know it..... "Molon Labe" (mow-lon lab-ay) means 'Come and Get them', and no matter what i am proud of us all, there's a word us 'Spartans' use for teammates...
adelfós (αδελφός), it means Brother, only those you really valued would you call brother, but to a Spartan, a brother was anyone he stood beside and fought with, (THIS is the origin of the phrase 'Brothers in Arms')... you see guys we aren't so different from the worlds toughest warriors... we work together, we help each other, we face the best of times, and the worst, together.

remember guys, things happen, we can't change them at times, we wish they didn't happen but they did... so in these instances it's a case of "By the Left...Quick.....March!" and resume marching on into the unknowns, not looking back...

NOW..... back to work you slackers

Just my viewpoint, yeah i'm proud of my heritage, but the key things we must remember from this little 'speech'..... Teamwork - Assist one another no matter the circumstance, courage in adversity - no matter what, never give up, linked with teamwork we can do the things we set out to do, and determination to do what we set out to do in the first place.... but all the time having fun!
