    Freeware: Avia 56 Four-Pak Released

The Avia 56 Project for MSFS2004/FS9 ACof - VERSION 1.0

by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, and Matt Wynn, with contributions by Bill Ortis and Oleboy with help from SOH members.

Functional VC model included; Pkg incl seven Aircraft models (wheels, floats, amphibs, skis) with 13 textures, a great flight model, authentic and awesome radial custom sounds, custom panels, easy-to-read clickable virtual cockpits, and superbly crafted exterior and interior textures.

This aircraft release is one in series of real world Avia aircraft designed by Czech engineer Robert Nebesar. The first was the Avia 51 and 156. This Avia 56 was a prototype that was changed because of engine availability, and became the 156. The next and last aircraft in the series is the Avia 57, a 14-passenger, 3-engine monoplane currently under development.

Technical/Consulting: Moses03, Michal Beran, Tomáš Rusek - consultant, John Smith (Hurricane91) - research assistance - metric panel repaint, Michal Plavec - Curator of the Aviation Collection National Technical Museum, Prague, R. Berger, Karel Kriz - Newspaper and poster materials.

NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN FSX, BUT TESTED IN SP2 ACCEL DX9 AS A PORTOVER. THERE IS A FOLDER WITH FSX UPDATES FOR EACH AIRCRAFT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO TRY IT THERE. NOT SUPPORTED.

The Upload is now approved and available: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...=6&linkid=5698

Is that your sound file Nigel? It's great!!! Try adding the startup effect from the Sparten.

CFG calls out 3 bladed prop. I changed it to 2 but can't tell any difference in performance.

    Great model, thanks gents.

I can't say enough nice things about this plane, an accurate description is beyond words. When you consider the time spent researching the history of the real plane, and the steps that Milton and his team spent putting together one of the most accurate flight models possible for it, the end result is nothing short of outstanding. The animations are very well done, and the sounds by Nigel Richards are.... as they say: "As real as it gets". The visual model is eye candy for even the most discerning flight sim enthusiast. So if you are sitting on the fence trying to decide if you want to fly the '56', I would recommend you grab it. The efforts of individuals to produce a model of this quality for FS9 goes without saying. If you like the nostalgic era of flight, as well as a low and slow flyer that requires a gentle hand, this beauty captures all of those things very accurately.

Very Nice!! Thank you Milton and Team! The '56' is a definate keeper.

Downloaded it late last night. It is absolutely, positively great. A beauty. One of the effects on me of downloading such a great model is how it renews my enthusiasm for the hobby. One such result with this model has been that after a flight or two (and after the necessary tinkering with the viewpoint and such) and moving a couple of instruments around (don't start hollering, if I'd bought the full-size aircraft, I'd probably have done the same thing). After doing these "fine tuning" activities that every new ship needs, and taking around the patch a few times, I was just forced to drag some of my older golden age birds out of the hangar for a circuit or two around my local strip..........Lionheart's Junkers was first, then GAS's Fairchilds and Travel air. Sometimes I wish the Fairchild had floats.......but even among these great models, the AVIA is special. Once on the step and cruising, it hauls pretty good. And did I mention it is a beauty.

Is there a paint kit for this model?

As always, thanks so much to everyone involved for their hard work and for such a great model.

    Amazing.

Beautifully done, (and had history gone down differently), an aircraft that totally makes sense twenty some-odd years before DeHavilland Canada's Otter. I think it's a plane that would have found it's way to the Northern wilderness airways. It looks so ....right.

A model that's evocative in every way, particular kudos to Nigel's noise folder. It just sounds as I would expect, RORTY. (Although pilots beware, I thinks he's found us a gearbox thrust bearing that need replacing. You can hear it when you throttle back on final. Mind you....like an old Muncie top loader, these things can self lap for decades, it's nothing more than character building.....)

Thanks Milton & friends, this old Avia will see a lot of use. Perfectly done, my compliments and gratitude.

    Cheers!!

    ....Now..goin' fishin'......wayyyy out there.

From what I read in the Ops.txt ... use the slash key or spoiler key to unhide the yokes. :-)

Thank you everyone for the kind words and free offers.

Actually, in spite of what is sometimes joked about here, coffee is the beverage of choice.
