I'd go with the 2600k, but there is nothing wrong with the 950. Either one will run FSX and RoF.
Are you going to upgrade the OS and vid card in the future? You would be better off going with
a 64bit OS to take advantage of all the memory, which in turn would make your sims run better.

    CPU quest

    Hi Butcherbird17

    I´m opt for MB: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 Rev.1.0

    CPU: Intel i7 2600K 3,4GHz

    Corsair memory: 8GB CL8 1600MHz Dominator 1,5v

    CPU coole:r Antec Kühler H20 620 'Watercooler'

    Videocard: Gigabyte GTX580 1 536MB OC

My current case is Cooler Master 5 Centurion miditower. I´m very pleaced with that case

Videocard: Leadtek winfast 8800GTX lenght: 270mm. The Gigabyte card have the same lenght so it will fit.

Othervise I can change my SATA HD to a SSD HD for the OP system, SSD is much smaller.

I like to have Windows 7 Ultimate but is cost to much at the moment, so I´m running XP until I can bay windows 7.

You will definitely need a 64 bit version of Windows (XP, Vista, or 7, it doesn't matter which one) in order to utilize all of that memory. 32 bit operating systems will only recognize and utilize 4 GB of memory and that includes the memory on your video card and the CPU cache. The use of 32 bit XP Home is only going to allow you to use about 2.3 GB of your RAM with the video card you have selected, that's not much memory these days.

    windows 7

    Hi

Tanks your all for the tip.

I´m bee lucky to bay a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate licence for half the price.

What is the minimum of memory in 64-bit system ?

I know I´m must download new drivers for my hardware and I have to give up on some of my older games but I hope i´m still can use CFS 2.

There are a couple other options instead of going full price, you can get OEM or the Upgrade route.
I got the upgrade dvd's of Wins7 Ultimate, (comes with both 32 & 64 bit dvd's) for the same price
as OEM (1 disk). With the upgrade you can do a fresh install without having an OS on a hard drive.

I believe its 2 GB, but don't quote me on that.

If you go with Wins7, some of your hardware drivers will show in windows update. I do the same thing
and get all the latest drivers for my hardware, then put them on a flash drive for later use.
And cfs2 will work in wins7. (i have 3 installs). If you just can't go with out some older programs
not working in wins7, you can always setup a dual boot (XP & wins7) on the new rig.

    windows 7

    Hi Butcherbird17

I get the windows 7 ultimate full version 2 DVD 32 & 64 bit for abaoute $60 USD ~400 swedish crown. Benefit with full version you can change all the computer components without new licence.

The OEM version is intergrated with the motherboard, so the change of the MB require a new licence key.

The first think I´m going to do, is to download all the nesesary drivers and kip it on a safe place before I format my HD for the new OP system.

Hope you have a sunny day in Fort Lauderdale. Here is still winter.
