I like it, quite 2012, and it makes a nice tinngg when you click stuff.
Actually you can design your own new interface, all the bits lurk in the UIRES folder.
But I am too lazy.

I opened it with Paint and converted it to 24bit bmp, then used Imagetool to convert that to 16bit. Crop off the bottom tag strip and the image is 1024.768, which then gets resized to 800x600.

Yeah! FS9.5 it is! Very cool.

Tom for a time I had a KLM 747 as a splashscreen at that very place - sans surfboard alas, but the wheels were about a metre off the fence which kind of made up for it.

YIKES!!! That's a good way to bust up thin asphalt and damage landing gear! They don't tell pilots not to land on the arrows just because they feel like screwing with somebody!

I highly doubt that a 747-400 captain would intentionally land short .... just to "play to their bikini clad audience" . This is more likely a snap shot of one that got very very lucky and managed to squeak in after getting a bit low and slow.
The window or margin at Juliana is obviously quite small for the Jumbo...so that the crews are going to try to land as short as possible. But that will never mean they risk their own and their passengers lives by landing in the no-no zone.

Like Tom said in that yellow chevron area the surface is potentially to weak to support the aircraft even statically, much less with added "weight" during the touch down. The area with the white arrows may be used for take-off only. Though that more often than not has more to do with the approach gradient than weight limitations.

Theoretically the crew would have to file a report on themselves for landing off-airport for that one

Dutch pilots *Hand on Heart* have never landed in the no-go zone, they have simply floated over!
Because the threshold is only a meter or two above sea level, the approach (a clear run) can be essentially level.
They fly along low and slow (see the angle of attack?) just over the fence, let the feet drag a little, and then plop down on the runway proper.
Others who may not have girlfriends on the beach use a much steeper, more conventional approach!

I looked through the first 7 or 8 pages and the only single airplane that came in that short was that KLM 744 on July 2nd.
I want to see the certificate of the Jumbo captain that would on purpose risk his hat in such a fashion.

Yes the approach is clear over water with only the airport fence as a vertical obstacle to cross....not counting the folks on the beach. But if you have ever flown anything at the back end of the power vs drag curve you will undoubtedly know just how much difference a small decrease in power output will make to your aircraft behavior. You don't do that unless you absolutely have no other option.

This particular crew simply got lucky....and got their picture taken in the process.

It is fun to be greeted by a fresh look, and I keep doing little things to it, to better suit my custom FS9.5 sim...
I haven't seen it anywhere else but FS Pilot Shop though.
