IIRC the 109D is a Spanish Civil War version in ETO. I don't know if there are any Phoney War skins for it?

    Hi Owen,
I enjoy flying this type of early fighter so much I wrote a 1940 campaign where the allied fighter was the P-36. Axis planes include the HS 123.

I don't know how realistic the flight model is, but the P-36 is rarely bested in a dogfight, especially when I modify it to run AvH French 12.5mm MGs instead of puny 30 cals......

Now that there is a DXXIII and a Buffalo there are more aircraft "d'un certain age" that could be thrown into the mix

HouseHobbit has let me know that it's a 109e in his post. My mistake. I thought I saw the exhausts of a jumo engine!

War in all it's fury and madness. How can this be possible that in 2014, things have not changed?

    May 4/5th 1943.
596 aircraft - 255 Lancasters, 141 Halifaxes, 110 Wellingtons, 80 Stirlings, 10 Mosquitos - on the largest 'non-1,000' raid of the war to date and the first major attack on Dortmund.

31 aircraft - 12 Halifaxes, 7 Stirlings, 6 Lancasters, 6 Wellingtons - lost, 5.2 per cent of the force. A further 7 aircraft crashed in bad weather at the bomber bases. The initial Pathfinder marking was accurate but some of the backing-up marking fell short. A decoy fire site also attracted many bombs. But half of the large force did bomb within 3 miles of the aiming point and severe damage was caused in central and northern parts of Dortmund.

    <Title>ETO BOF Haegelen H75 Bourges HH 809

<Overview>Marcel Haegelen defended Bourges with his squadron "Patrouille Polonaise" Jun 5, 1940 when a group of He 111 bonbers attacked the City. Haegelen shot down one He 111, but was wounded in the attack. Haregelen is one of the few pilots who had kills in WW1 and WW2.

<Intelligence>In June 1940 Haeglen intercepted a German air raid attacking the town, Bourges. Closing on a HE-111, he pursued it eventually shooting it down. In the process his plane took 14 hits, some of the bullets missing Haegelens head by inches. One bullet, however, hit him in the shoulder. He still managed to nurse the plane back to base and land it. At the age of 44, 22 years after his last kill, Haegelen scored his 23rd victory. He became one of only about 6 people to score air victories in both world wars.

<Title> ETO Campbell Battlecruiser Strike HH 901
<Overview> The German battlecruisers Sharnhorst and Gueisenau are hiding in Breast harbor. We have had several sorties and no major damage to either battlecruiser. The Sharnhorst is in a dock, Gueisenau is your target. Hit the Battlecruiser Gueisenau and get Home. 22 Squadron brought the Bristol Beaufort into operational service; receiving the first aircraft in November 1939 and, after an intense work up at North Coates in Lincolnshire, the Squadron resumed operations in April 1940, beginning with mine laying sorties. It moved to RAF Thorney Island where torpedo operations were resumed in August. In order to cover a wider area of sea the Squadron sent out detachments, to RAF Abbotsinch (to test the Torpedo with Wings), then to St Eval, being the most regular.

<Intelligence> 22 Squadron made attacks on the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau in Brest. During one of these, on 6 April 1941. Flying Officer Kenneth Campbell and his crew made a daring and courageous penetration of the formidable defences and hit the Gneisenau with a torpedo just before being shot to pieces. The Gneisenau was out of action for nine months and Flying Officer Campbell was awarded the VC, posthumously. Throughout 1941 the Squadron was on the attack constantly and when the year ended it had sunk over 100,000 tons of enemy shipping. Hit your target and get home. Tally Ho! Good Hunting
Yea the brave souls did their best , and the little Beauforts fought like lions in the attack.
