    Unhappy FSX Fatal Error

    Flew twice online (mulitplayer) last night. No issues obviously. Went to go for a vor hop this morning and once I click on "fly now" the screen freezes, and a message pops up saying : "Fatal error. FSX is now restarting". WTF!?!? It does the same thing in normal freeflight. I did a system restore back to last night when everythign was normal. It's still doing the same thing. I am the only one with an account on this pc, and have NOT downloaded anything at all in a while. Ran a scandisk, defrag, virus scan, the whole nine yards. It's still doing it. Does anyone have a clue on what I can do to fix this? PLEASE!

    EDIT: at 1:28p.m.

    It will let me join a room multiplayer, select my plane, but when it comes to clicking "fly" nope. The little hour glass thingy (that loads) is just stuck there. Then no more "fatal error", it just restarts FSX all by itself without any input from me. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This happens to me if I am starting a 'saved' flight and I had gone from 'saved' Full screen mode to 'Windows' mode.

    If you were last in Windows mode and your flight is 'full screen' mode, then try loading a 'fly now' from a base flight in 'full screen' mode, or vice versa and see how that does.

    * Start FS
    * If in Windows mode, go to Full Screen mode. If in Full Screen mode, go to Windows mode.
    * Boot up a flight

    (Sometimes we change to say Windows mode in a Multiplayer flight.. That might be whats causing it.. )

    Once I start FSX how do I change the "screen mode"?
    Also I do not fly "saved" flights. I never do, as I always fly to different airports. It's weird like I said earlier. FSX starts up normally. It'll let me pick my gps route, and pick my plane, but once I select "fly now" that is when this happens.
    P.S.
    I ran a google search on this, and it seems that this is a common issue.

    A coworker of mine just suggested that I download/update the newest driver for my video card. (Of course he forgets how to do it). Does anyone know how I can do that? I am running windows vista (with all service packs installed). If you need more specs about my pc just ask.

    If you haven't done so already, I would do a repair of FSX using the instl. disk. If you have accleration installed use that disk. Just insert it and select repair. It will take a while.

    As far as installing a new graphics driver, you can get them at http://downloads.guru3d.com/. Choose either the 32bit or 64 bit driver depending on which Vista you have installed. Download the driver for your graphics card. I am not familiar with the ATI cards. Guru3D has both WHQL (released) and beta drivers so make sure you get a released one if beta drivers are a concern. I am using the NVIDIA 180.84 beta with no problems.

    Thank you Tom. I will try all of that tonight when I get off of work in 5 1/2 hours. I also have both disks also. So I simply put the disks in and I will see an option to 'repair"?

    If you have acceleration, that is all you need to run.

    Good Luck,

    Just went to nvida's website and downloaded the latest update for my video card. Tried to go flying again. Same thing. Once I click "fly now" the hour glass thingy just hangs there and FSX restarts all on it's own.

    Inserted the accelerator disk, and clicked on "repair"... guess what? Same thing!!!!!! The hour glass thingy just sits there and pressing control, alt, delete shows that it is not responding.

    What the heck is going on here!?!?!? How in heck can it go from working perfect to not even working at all!?!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!
