Anybody notice that the numbers on the tail of "Goodtime Gal" is different from the actual aircraft? "Goodtime Gal" is 256005 as she sits in Houston. (N60JT)
Awesome Airplane... Thank you for the Big Lockheed Twin!!

Ventura taking her first test flight... nearly done bar the fine detail on the wings and some overall weathering and details.

Looking good + looking forward to it!
Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

    PV-1 Ventura OH Items

Can you identify these items in the Vega Ventura overhead and their purpose?

The manual does not show them.

Thanks for any help in advance.

#3 = PDI (steal it from the A-26)
#2 = Heading gauge (tied to AP) should be able to find one in the parts bin
#1 = Swiss Army Knife? - well it looks like one but since it's red and appears linked to the overhead glazing it might be a handle for emergency release of the roof panels

Apparently I must take SWMBO out for breakfast, but I'll do some more digging later.

3 is the emergency release for the top roof glazed panels... emergency egress option.

I will give you the real #2 and #3 for this plane, I have them both sitting on the bookshelf, (along with an HSI, Altimeter and an early turn and bank) from a B-24.

    Hi Friends,
I'm making a repaint for an U.S.C.G. R50-1 (Model 18) belonged to Coast Guard Air Station Brooklyn, New York, that acquired this plane, Lockheed registration number 2008, on 14 May 1940, and used it as a VIP transport for top executive officers of the Department of the US Treasury.
Here some screens (WIP), but I'm not sure for the U.S.C.G. insigna on the nose, the photos I picked from the Web are very small..... Can someone help me ?

I've got a start on the TWA one but it's been on the back burner for a while now as I got off into another bunch of Lockheeds. I'll probably get around to it sooner or later, but if someone wants what I've got to finish it (insignia bitmaps (some custom) and references) let me know.

I've seen Classy Chassy up close, very good looking plane.

  23. #2373
    All good, Milton, all good.

Would someone PLEASE paint a L18 in PAN AM so I can retire mine?

  24. #2374
A little more testing after getting some more detail in and the wings finalised... she's not looking bad for an old bird

Time to head inside and finalize the inside before paint gets thrown about!

Wow! That's great progress Rachael ... looking more completed every time we see her.
