    Continental L-18-08

    Hi All,
I would like to share my Continental L-18-08, which was made possible by Andre's great base metal textures. Andre has agreed to host the texture and it is available at this link.

    Wayne,

That is simply beautiful; well done Sir :-)

The link however does not seem to be understood by my browsers. :-/

EDIT: However the one in my Email notification did work. :-)

    Wayne's continental skins for milton's l-18

    Yeah!

Very very nice, but like Milton this shortcut does not work for me either.

Look fwd to flying this a/c with this skin. The man-hours that have gone into it make it a very valuable asset - for free!*****

Thank you every one who has contributed toward this a/c and for Milton and his munificence. The very epitome of the free market. What can we give you in return, except our heart felt appreciation and admiration of all of your talents.

Phew! - any more and I will be on my knees . . .

    Mal

    Continental Lodestar

I noticed that the link does not work here but, as Milton said, it works when I use it from Andre's email. We'll figure that out and fix it.

Thanks to everyone for all the work to bring this project this far. Still great talent in FS9.

Apologies for the link not working, but thanks Milton for sorting it out.

    Andre, agreed.

I do wish to apologize to those who are trying to keep up with all the mods but essentially this WIP activity is how it goes among the project team during alpha and beta phases.

Once these parts all come together, fear not, I will put out a package that consolidates it all so for those on the sidelines trying to keep up and fly the WIP, it will get better.

Once Firekitten's Paint Kit becomes available, some painters may wish to add in her layers that are appropriate for their paint schemes for panel lines, rivets and shading.

This is not essential, but may be welcomed by some of you.

    Hi Maarten,

Thanks for the kind words. I really love this airplane and I had to come out of retirement and give it a try. It was fun. I wish some brave person would step up and do the United airplane. In light of my 35 years at United I should do it but I don't know if I am that brave. That one will not be for the faint of heart, even with Andre's help. Good to hear from you.

I now have Firekitten's Lodestar paint kit in hand. Maybe one of us will get it uploaded Friday for you.

She also has about finished the the 2D panel work for me, a little more trimming up to do ... here's a peak with working gauges in place.

Back in 2012 I worked up some schemes on the original PV-2 beta release, I have no idea if they even fit anymore, and been a bit busy on other projects too keep up with progress on the Lockheed's. If anyone wants too try them out , I'll make them available. I know some are Ventura schemes, but nobody had mentioned Ventura's when I did these.

Steve, they work; I have them. But there have been a couple minor improvements on the engine cowlings allowing one to texture/shade under the air intakes and the face of the oil cooler screen filter.

Steve, I'd be very interested. Always room in the hangers for more Harpoons!

I ran into the engine texture thing that Milton is talking about with a civil paint I did.

    Thanks Milton.
I still have all the layered masters for each of these schemes, so will be able to fix that sometime when I get a mo. Is there an updated texture template for the new bits ?

I will make them available once updated after all it's a simple enough fix and once I know where too splash the paint, should only take a couple of minutes per scheme.

Yes, attached are the mapping templates for the PV-2 Harpoon engines and wings. Not sure if there was a wing change or not since you did the paints.

EDIT: Added model to the zip package

Cheers Milton, Will have a look at these later tonight. Is there an updated model file required for these mappings ? I am still using the initial PV-2 release,
I haven't exactly been keeping up to date on this thread.

I couldn't resist doing a "restored warbird" along the lines of Attu Warrior & Hot Stuff.

The "Empire Express" was the name given to the missions flown out of the Aleutians to the Japanese Kurile Islands by the Ventura and Harpoon crews. I found a rough pic of the old Fleet Air Wing 4 emblem and reworked it into a nose art for the PV-2.

Steve, I updated the attachment above to include one Harpoon model for testing. You may have to rename the model= in your cfg to pick this one up, or rename the model folder.
