    Question Polish scenery problem...

    To all,

Looking through some of the Polish missions, I have noted an issue with the Polish coastline.

The last square in the top right corner of Sander's scenery squares covers part of the area. This "phantom coastline" begins at about N54 22' 80", E 18 43' 15", and spans up along the Polish coastline, becoming more prominent in some places, less noticeable in others.

    It lasts until about N54 46' 68", E18 25' 27", where it runs back into the coastline. Sander's coastline also has this problem, beginning with N54 41' 05", E18 43' 84", lasting to N54 50' 27", E18 19' 02".

What are the options to fix this? It making placing ports challenging, if not impossible.

The land-water-mask in this area just don`t match the coastline.
These are probably remnants of earlier SdC work.

    Fix: Wait for updated files.

But actually, there is noone working on them at the moment.

I'm understanding SdCs monumental work a little better now after my "new" install. Me thinks a missing global exclude might be the culprit. But figuring out how to do one is beyond my capabilities.....

    Just a maybe......

Placing a bitmap over the port area, using an appropriate mask would fix at least that section for the port and give you a background to place objects that would look more natural. (Like Ettico's great eurotargets)

You can disable the file because Sander has thoughtfully kept the VTP lines as separate .bgl files; look for some thing like 952120cst_8.bgl and disable it, this will take out the coast line for quite a large area but at least you will be able to build your port. As I say Sanders area coverage is quite large so hand editing a replacement for the whole area with Ground2k would be boring. Preparing a file that just corrects the crutial area would be feasable but I dont have time to look at it at the moment, Perhaps when VN is done, I would consider helping out setting up a Ground2k project , new terraformers are in short supply as Jaxon says!

I appreciate your Polish work. ..only reason I'll probably do an ETO install again.

    Solution found!

I took Sully's suggestion and eliminated the following files:

    952120cst_8.bgl
    952120lwm_3.bgl
    952120rd_8.bgl
    952120st_8.bgl

Although you use Sander's coastlines, there is no coast flatten, so Rhumbaflappy's coastlines are not lost. Now I can build ports. Yay!

    Thanks for all the help!
