Convair 58-9 SST

I found the Convair 58-9 SST on the website of JR Lucariny. It's a really cool proposed airline version of the B-58 Hustler.

Does anyone have it? What do you think of it? Will it work in FSX?

Not able to answer 1. and 3. (wrong forum) and I suspect I am not alone.
However, I am disturbed by the engine pod being moved to the wingtip.
Wonder why you'd want to do that?

Me too WZ.

Maybe some whizkid thought of putting them there to chew up wingtip vortices before they appeared and wash away with washout...

...makes sense to me anyway!

What disturbs me most though, is that someone (same whizkid tyro?), seriously thought that folk would want to actually pay to travel in this crate (!)

It's an interesting concept.. to say the least. With those big cans being alot closer to passengers sitting in the mid section of the fuselage, might be a ticket for a massive headache. :isadizzy:

Now now, be nice. He's not a pro (as far as I know) and does some pretty good work. If you look at his work over time you'll see a steady progression of quality. I've have a few of his models and some are quite good, like the hellcat- no VC but some TLC has made it a permanent addition to my collection.

No. no M. I think you misunderstood me Sir.

I apologise for not making myself clearer!

This was aimed as a 'tongue in cheek' dig at the real life air industry 'experts'' (Ive seen and met and worked with a good few in my days).

Most definately not the good fellow Lucariny.

I'd never 'knock' another simmer, it's not my nature. Neither free or payware (makes no difference to me).

May I quote that great aviation writer Roy Braybrook; (from a brilliant analysis and insight of the international aerospace industry during the '70's)

"Take it from me Gentlemen, in the world of aviation experts...there are no experts!"

If you are lucky enough to get hold of some of that Gentleman's superb writings (Air Enthusist, Air International - plus his in depth, excellent books) they make superb reading!!!

Another piece of Roy's invaluable advice;

Well sir, if anyone ever doubted your credentials, that pretty much settles it.
Air International has been on my desk every month since...probably when I could read.
And Roy served up superb insights into the way the aerospace industry worked.
It was a privilege to read him.
And cast in the same mould: Wren's cartoons in Flight International, wry insights that required good inside knowledge.

Since we're on the subject of B-58's B-58 mods, and Stress... I'm just a bit curious as to what happened to the good ol' Alphasim B-58A. I didn't see it anywhere on the Virtavia site and me thinks it isn't freeware... yet, that is.

I have a licensed copy of the Alpha model with the professional upgrade, and I have seen pics of the plane with some really nice repaints as well as some excellent afterburner effects.

I wasn't making comments about JR Lucariny's superb modeling capabilities of the Convair "SST" in my previous post... but more along the lines as if that plane existed in the real world of aviation. Betcha' it'd be a handful in the air, as well as a noisy racket both inside the cabin, and outside on the tarmac.

As a matter of fact, I think (maybe) Alphasim had an older version of that plane, the M-50 (code name "Bounder"), possibly for CFS2 for FS2000. Might be in the "Alpha Oldies" section here.

After watching that viddy, one might get the impression that the M-50 was definately influenced by the delta wing 4 engine configuration that was used in the design of the "Hustler".

I really like the Cold War Era Soviet jets...

I think there was a guy that went by "Copper Beard" that did a few Russian oddballs. I think the M-50 was one of them. There was also a Sukhoi T-4 that was super cool as well.
