I'm sure there's a thread here about this and I've tried looking it up but can't find it so I'll just ask. Last night I downloaded Steven Myers' Porterfield Collegiate and a Canadian paint scheme, dotted all my T's and crossed my I's on the aircraft config file for the new paint and after adding it to my aircraft folder it's not showing up in my aircraft list in the sim, even under the heading "ANY". I've had this happen a couple times before and I'm sure the issue is dirt simple but I'm just wondering why this happens...

I's and T's aside, the typical culprits are you might be missing one of the four golden folders mod/pan/scen/tex (also check which are specified in the cfg), and I have found that another is there might be an identically named AC somewhere. Only one AC per point in space/time you know. And for the real obvious that I forget now and then is the AC number in the cfg roster. If I had nickel for every dope-slap I've given myself on that one More devious reasons I'll leave to others.

Well the fltsim numbers are there as are the necessary files. It's listed as a "Porterfield-Turner" for the UI Manufacturer and I've nothing else in my inventory with that designation so that shouldn't be the problem. Maybe it doesn't like hyphens. I'll try listing it simply as Porterfield.

Had this myself and after a bit of digging, found the reason. The error is in the new Config file against the "sim" entry. Just get rid of the "_v2.0" so it just shows as "PorterCP" and everything then shows.

Collegiate3.zip is a re-release of Collegiate2.zip with minor texture revisions only. The original zip was uploaded to Sim-Outhouse in September 2005 and is not available at the present time. Revised flight dynamics by Alexander M. Metzger and repaints by Wayne Sinker for the FS2004 Porterfield-Turner Collegiate by Steven D. Myers.


Revised Flight Dynamics:
The 'PorterCP_v2.0.air' and 'aircraft.cfg' files by Alexander M. Metzger significantly change the handling characteristics of this model. More information and similar improvements to aircraft such as the default Piper J3 Cub, Extra 300, Beech King Air and others are available at Alexander's web page:

Repaints:
N37715 (NC37715) is not an actual registered US aircraft. N37714 and N37716 are CP-65's so this N number could theoretically have once been used on a 1941 Porterfield. Canadian CF-RKV is fictional but close to an actual one. (Note: C- replaced CF- for Canadian aircraft in the seventies. Some old-style registrations still exist.) The blue and silver scheme is similar to that applied to new aircraft.



Installation:

1. Install the Porterfield-Turner Collegiate by Steven D. Myers. 'Portercfp.zip' is (was) available at Sim-Outhouse:

2. Extract the files from this zip into the PorterCP folder. Overwrite 'aircraft.cfg' when prompted. The previously installed aircraft are in this cfg file. A copy of the original aircraft.cfg is included as well.

3. Revised propeller disk, 'Prop_Cub.bmp' and blackened tires, 'prop_16.bmp' may be copied from 'texture.blue' and pasted into the original texture folders if desired.

Steven D. Myers created a fine little airplane based on a unique prototype. It is a great alternative to the Piper Cubs available for FS2004, and as a bonus, you get to fly solo from the front seat! Thank you for allowing your artwork to be used in the repaint and for permission to include Alexander's files in this zip.

A big thank you to Alexander M. Metzger for taking the time to develop and release version 2 flight dynamics. This aircraft has been transformed into a wonderful flying machine in my opinion.

I only bring this up as someone was looking for a repaint of 'touch of Texas' were they not. Iknow it's for CFS3, but I'm pretty sure the Kristoff Malinowski CFS2 (and FS9 later ports) were based on the CFS3 source. Were Gnoopeys not a further iteration of Kristoffs work too? Maybe the paints will retro fit?
