Is the sound volume adjustable via the sound.cfg or would the individual sound files need to be modified ?

    Cheers

    Hi Stefan,

Glad to hear you're really into sounds...and LOUD too!

Well, Milton clearly explained the logic involved for all the Avia aircraft series.

The truth is the designer went to great lengths to reduce interior sound levels - even the specially inlaid wooden floors were for sound reduction as much as deco.

The most practical way of hearing louder sounds is obviously to use your computer audio master contol.

Normal settings should be about 50% on all sliders. Even this is too loud for my setup (30%volume is almost deafening for the '56).
Don't be afraid to play around with the settings according to what you're flying.
Are you taking the sounds directly from computer to headphone?
Or are you using desktop speakers with a headphone jack?
    Makes the world of difference.

I'm afraid to make the whole soundset louder, this would mean a combo of revised cfg file and amplification of wav files together...that's a fair few weekends Lol.

Regarding the Avia 57 sounds; great progress!
I really like the full throttle, high MAP prop sounds as the prop tips go supersonic (above 2100~ rpms). That is a very nice touch. :-)

The timing on the door opening sounds is great :-)

The fact that one can actually hear and differentiate the engine startup sounds 1,2,3 is very nice. I appreciate the time it takes to clear the engines and settle in to a nice smoother idle (smoother being relative).

I think when the map goes above 26-28", it would be nice if the volume could increase gradually, not to drown out the supersonic props but to give a sense of 3 engines really working on takeoff. Cruise rpms should be less than 2500 and map should be 22-25"so the current volume levels work well for lower map and rpms. Running these engines in a "square" configuration is probably best (i.e 25" - 2500rpms; 22" - 2200rpms).

I look forward to the magic ... :-)

It is totally in the hands of Nigel, working exterior textures, sounds, and interior textures, and VC panel textures.

The holdup problem seems to be ... "batteries".

Batteries...??! Well until you get the "battery" issue resolved, mate... I reckon you're going to need to gather up all those spare flashlights and transistor radios sitting around. You're going to need all the batteries you can collect to get those three big radial engines going.

    Thank you hawkeye52.

It's just what I cobbled together. I think Nigel plans to give the textures a makeover to give it a little 3D depth and surface quality.

    Richards reporting for duty, SIR!

(icon:big, fat, juicy batteries overlowing with AMPS!:icon)

    Battery problem finally solved

The lovely panel looks realistic, cos it is realistic!...as are many of the admirable features the 'Chief' has engineered into this one!

Time for me to get cracking on the final stages of this beauty, before the Milton Works Export Dept excommunicate me to making sound effects and paint jobs for bicycles...

John matey, don't listen to them! They're all swigging the ouzo - goodtime!
Pi**ed as fa*ts, the lot of them.

As the 2 Polish pilots kept insisting in 'Piece of cake': "Ees cockup!"

Don't be mislead, they're a great bunch - they've just got roaring hangovers!

    The paintkit's there!

It's always been there, ever since it was put there!

    -----------------------------------------------------------
Following numerous requests for an Avia 56 paintkit, finally here it is.
We have provided fully layered files for all exterior surfaces to allow completely free access to all areas of texturing.

This means that by accessing the full range of layers, you can now add, subtract or vary all elements - rivets, panels, scratches, highlights, weathering, as well as the actual graphics layers for colours, markings etc.

It is also our hope that those teetering on entering the world of texturing for the very first time, will be encouraged to explore layers, which should also effect a form of hands-on tutorial illustrating the logic involved.

So get some good reference pics, fire-up Photoshop and enjoy going creative for YOUR AVIA-56 paint schemes.

And remember; FS is for sharing - and we'd love to see the results of YOUR work.

Enjoy being creative - have fun!

    NIgel,

Are you saying it is part of the Avia 51 paintkit you posted above?

EDIT: Okay, I see it is simply mis-named.

Here is Matt's latest post of the Avia 56 paint kit:

    Avia 56 - Nigel's Photoshop layered version

No Gentlemen, as Milton pointed out:; it is indeed my paintkit for the Avia 56 and not the 51 for which I have never made a paintkit

Very much looking forward to some new textures for this awesome aircraft.

Shake off the dust, down to the gleaming metal...

Having completed the soundset for Tankerguy72's wonderful Consolidated PB4Y-2, my undivided attention is now on the Avia 57 fleet of textures.

So over the next couple of weeks I will regularly be posting screenshots as work progresses.

    Slowly but surely

Methodically finding my way around this impeccable aircraft, rivets and panels always labourious but its the stage where all accuracy counts.

    Fun's the word.

    And I'm having plenty.
