The inline tri-motor would be an awesomely fast aircraft, I think you would agree, and the 3-motor-floater would look awe-inspiring with it's massive floats - it would give some extra grunt on take-off, I am sure!

    Hi Craig :-)

Thanks for your interest in the "floaters". The Avia 51 could be done fairly easily; the "souped up" 3-engine Hispano-Suiza 12Ydrs on the tri-motor is another story. Assuming that you could overlook a few of the major structural weaknesses of the aircraft and its light weight, having 1800 HP on this aircraft would be a fairly challenging project with all the model changes and all new flight model. Speeds achieved with those large floats and light aircraft could present an interesting FM challenge as well.

The aircraft are powerful for their weight. I tested various T/O scenarios but preferred this setup best overall for all phases of flight. Because of the low stall speeds, low takeoff speeds are the norm and the result is a 3-point takeoff.

I am working on the FSX side to get the flight models ready and she is looking really sweet there too.

I think adding a touch more drag and this first one of four is ready.

Messin' around in Juneau Harbor and landing at Juneau International.

Oh Man, that third pic just before she's getting on the step,..

Looking great Matt, knew you'd be there with a nice scheme.Uncle Nigel's nearly finished uploading a bare-metal texture set. I'll send a master copy to Milton, and a set of dupes to yourself and Oleboy. If they're any use to you guys, use them!Sorry they're not the layered versions, I just don't have a steady enough connection for the size.Thrilled to see the input on this worthy aircraft.EDIT: Sent! Please check your mail Gentlemen.

Checking E-mail after test flight, still got alpha channels to sort but initial scheme is done...... onto the next after i sort these alphas out, also working on a new prop texture.... :salute:

well..... she's safely in Juneau (where my interior fit hangars are), externals are done, time to give it things a bush plane needs.... diamond plate/no-slip floor etc...

next scheme will be an Alaskan native... perhaps in Dark Blue and Gold...... someone give me a fictitious registration for the girl...

  9. #809
and now #2 is well underway..... Blue, Gold, and Silver gonna get utilised here......

  10. #810
Alaskan 1 is done apart from Reg Nr. might just leave it as generic....

Milton, with the Edos, this airplane looks "right". Great work by you, Nigel and Matt.

Thank you sir. The floats/amphibs came right off the D18S with no scaling or narrowing required. Set the longitudinal position, height and angle, adjusted the rigging, brought in the textures, then setup the new model and flight model to handle wheels and floats. Worked out pretty well over about 30 hours work; I was very surprised.

The floats originally were built by "Lionheart" and were donated to me for the D18S. But even after some mods there and a few here ... it still has Lionheart fingerprints. Thanks Bill.

    Surprise!

It took a little "dognacity" and grunt work, but in the end, it turned out well in FS9 and FSX.

    The textures are temporary.

    Hi Milton!

Wow! Thanks for putting the '51 on floats. It looks awesome - and powerful. Almost like what a De Havilland Triple-Otter might look like. Thanks again. :salute:

    Craig. :-)

By the way, does it come in amphibious, and straight floats, or just straight floats? :-)

I've been flying the Avia 51 (wheeled version) around Poland on a VFR tour. Apart from her superb finish both externally and internally she flies like a dream. I love the girl and the red velour!

I couldn't make the Sperry work but who needs it? With power, pitch and trim set, this lady flies herself. All she needs is fuel, oil, and the occasional touch on the yoke to keep her on track. I've been flying low and slow since FS95 and I find this aeroplane to be the most stable yet.

Amazing stuff, Milton and team. Thanks a bunch!

    John

Thanks, just straight floats for now. If there is a call for the amphibs, I will try to work that in.

Well thank you John; I appreciate those comments. The team can be proud of their work on this one.

I have to agree on the on the Sperry ... more hassle for me than its worth. Trim and go. :-)

Sometimes the Sperry works for me, sometimes not.

    Avia 51 Amphib

Okay, this one was a bit more agreeable with less fighting than the float version.

    Textures are temporary.

Now to work on the FSX side.

Well, I think this is appropriate ... Matt's textures match the raw float textures pretty well.

    EDIT: NZ? You bet!

Ahh yes! Matt's civil textures are just the job, much better than the military version.

Now, ...where'd I put those Maori - Kiwi designs?...Pete?, Wing?...
