your patience is much appreciated,
although, the pins and needles part is worrisome.
apologies for not being quicker,
but i would like to do this right.
i have absolutely no clue
as to a completion time frame.

Who am *I* to be commenting on folks being quicker on projects???
I haven't finished a project in under a year recently.
BTW, the Pins & Needles part about not knowing exactly how to finish the project? I go through that with EVERY project.... That is the part where you actually learn something. Besides, if you can't figure it out today, work on something else until you figure it out.
- Ivan.
thanks, at least now, i have an idea where to look.
ad2k has an animator built into it,
but i haven't looked at it closely.
i don't know if it has the "...speed conditions"
but it would sure be cool if it did.
we shall see.
i completely agree with
the set a problem aside for later theory.
it's like banging your head against a wall,
after a while, all you can see is the wall.
i find that even though the issue is not at the forefront,
i'm still thinking about it.
where i get into trouble
is if i set something aside,
i often get distracted and forget about it.
i guess for me, the pins and needles factor
is my concern that i'll get sidetracked
and won't finish the project.
that, and i'm worried that Dave
will poke himself full of holes.

Thank you Smilo,
I have not laughed so hard all day!!
I will start with very small holes with a pin, in a month I will move up to an Ice Pick.
When I get upto my speed drill, I will start forwarding pictures.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of Ya'll

As I sit Bleeding to death, I remember...fading in and out...that someone would not build me....
...a P-.....on floats.
D..a..v...e
i've been going through the ad2k help files
and have found a lot of animation options,
from the various flight controls,
to things like lift/lower gear, open/close gear doors,
run prop(s) and even rotate the wheels.
all also have reference speed options.
but so far, i have seen nothing about
making parts appear/disappear at a given speed.
i am thinking, since there is no gear or doors,
could i make the lower floats parts
extend/retract just enough
when the G key is pushed?
hmmm, might be worth looking into.

goodness gracious
i step away for a bit to write a relevant post
(and maybe talk to the wife for a few minutes)
and you guys go all holy on me.

just wondering,
how big would the floats have to be
to support a p-47?
huge, me thinks

Hi Smilo,
Perhaps you can do this as an altitude conditional. If the Altitude is below 2 feet, the bottoms of the floats are not displayed.
- Ivan.
that would be nice,
but i haven't seen an altitude conditional.
that doesn't mean there isn't one,
i just haven't seen it, yet.
i am currently setting up an old laptop
that a friend gave me.
i hope to have what i need copied to it
so i can take it along this weekend.
never can tell, i might get bored,
sitting around, watching the surf crash in,
and feel the need to mess around with the project.
i'm going to have to remember
to bring my extra strong magnifier glasses.
that screen is awfully small.
i don't think i'll be getting much done on the project today.
i have a lot to do to get ready for tomorrow.
we are having the get together here.
that should be interesting.
on top of that, the daughter will arrive
around 8:00 from Florida.
she will definitely liven up the party.

Hem...Perhaps you can do this as an altitude conditional.... I see one snag with that idea; what to do when landing at, for instance, Interlaken?
Any MDL file must have a condition for "on the ground" position, if only to have mesh scenery interact with gears and scrape points. The trouble is to find it and, with AD2000, find a way to implement it. Anyone knows of an amphibian made with it so we could examine how it was done?
Happy Thanksgiving to my Americans' friends BTW.
If you don't succeed the first time, then base jumping is not for you!

i have seen a few nice ad2k models,
but unfortunately, no amphibian.
we may be breaking new ground here.
there are some old ad2k designers still around,
but getting them to regress
will be a bit of a challenge.
most don't want to take the time to open old wounds.
i figure if ad2k was that great of a program,
more folks would still be using it.
then again, most people move on,
don't they?
for now, i have no problem waiting.
this issue is a ways down my priority list.
hopefully, i will stumble across a solution later.
currently, working on the float brackets.

"I will start with very small holes with a pin, in a month I will move up to an Ice Pick.

As I now sit with an ice pick in my thigh and a sword in my head, bleeding on the floor,
I know start thinking about your next project; a Spitfire on floats.

real funny, Dave.
you'd better be running...
that's me behind you,
the one with the spear,
screaming obscenities.
first things first.
let's finish this one.
much as i love float planes,
two unfinished, barely started,
projects are waiting in the wings,
so to speak.
an a-20 and a do17.
i also just read an article about the Kingfisher
that sparked my interest in the vought os2u-3.
but, really, let's be realistic.
until i figure out certain issues with ad2k,
all of those projects are just pipe dreams.
so,please,
...pass the pipe
