    Another FSX ported-over Tu-154M

Another "FSX compatible" Tu-154M appeared recently at avsimrus (41246-Tu-154M-dlya-FSX.zip). It is based on the Vitamin FS9 version, with no VC. Exterior model unchanged but it's the most beautiful one. The 2D panel is made of very good looking photoreal bitmaps, the systems look a little bit simplified but work alright as far as I can say, and I was able to power up most circuits and take off with no trouble at all! Let's say it's a "lite" version of the usually hardcore most famous Tupolev....

Repaints are plentyful... Credits go to Alexis (aka Vitamin), Andrey Karuna, serg09, Captain Uldemir, and Dmitriy Danilov.

I wish some courageous developer would convert to FSX native this wonderful exterior model... I'm sure, if asked politely, the source files could be traced and authorization given...

I know it was mentioned above - no one seemed to acknowledge it - but this is a Russian airliner that is quite special and though a portover works fine in FSX and has a tremendous VC interior that you can take an unusual walk through (tip: first go under the panel to navigator station and look out the glass nose!). Don't be put off by the spinning blades outside the engine - this beauty was nearly as fast a some jets and had tremendous range as well.

FSX Samdim Design Tupolev Tu-114 adapted for FSX. Features DDS textures, full virtual cockpit (VC), custom gauges, custom sounds, passenger cabin and camera definitions. Airplane in 1959 Khrushchev livery. Also includes Soviet Army Tu-126 Moss AWACS variant. Adapted for FSX by Branislav Jansik.

Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

I agree. Samdim's Tu-114 is a masterpiece. The 114 is my preferred long range aircraft in both FSX and FS9. And yes, the navigators position is the best seat in the house.

There is the MOSS AWACS version as well, if you like military tubes. Very nice. On the IL-38, I'm boned on starting the damned thing, and the manual-poof!- in russian. Which gauges did you take out to get the thing running? There are a number of 'em pre-fixed 'IL-38' gauge.

I've moved the Il-38.gau file to a "disabled-gauges" folder out of the Il-38 panel folder (check also in your main gauges folder). No need to udapte the panel.cfg file if you proceed like this...

  6. #56
Half the time with these, if you have to remove critical gauges, it's not worth it because you can't operate the plane correctly, or critical flight info will not be available.

Speaking in terms of the actual native releases, the following:

    1. Does anyone have a startup guide for Konovalov's native Il-86. Not sure that many systems are even simulated with this one, but I'm not up to speed on Ilyushin logic, so I don't know.

    2. Have there been any more Russian liveries released for Conrad's An-32?

    3. Is there complete gauge functionality in the FSX port of the Tu-114? Also, any prop and cloud visibility issues that usually occur in ports?

From iPhone so I apologize for formatting issues.

I think the 154 is under construction for FSX. Mr. Konovalov wrote at the russian Avsim: "Will you Tu-154 for FSX, normal, with all the meat will be ... It remains something a little bit to finish." (Automatic translation, sorry.)

    Wonderful news!

While waiting for this version, I'm still looking for the FS9 Vitamin Tu-154M with VC. I already have the Project Tupolev versions, both with VC, but the Vitamin version with VC is hard to find, and it's been said it works better when ported over to FSX... It sure looks good! Anybody knows where the file is? I've found at avsimrus the textures intended for the VC, but not the corresponding MDL file.... Help!

Yes this is the one! Thanks! So now I'm going to merge the Vitamin Tu-154M virtual cockpit (23722-154-vit.zip) with the FSX gauges I've found earlier (41246-Tu-154M-dlya-FSX.zip).

This is going to be a long and painful process, but after a few minutes I was able to locate the ADI and some engine gauges! More news this weekend.... If somebody suffers from insomnia, and has no girlfriend or wife asking to clean-up the dead leaves in the garden, roof, or similar autumn chores, please give it a try! I might need to take a day off to do this.... But this is going to be quite a nice Tu-154M FSX portover... while waiting for the real thing...

After half an hour.... less holes....

Let us know how that goes!

Also, I'm hoping Mr. Konovalov is indeed making a Tu-154!
Looking forward to it! (Maybe by Christmas or something? Who knows?)

EDIT: Barring the horrible automatic translation from Google, it look's like Konovalov is somehow going to be porting over PT's 154B2. Not sure if he is making it FSX-Native or just doing some work to make it fully functional.

Kirill Konovalov (2 days ago): Tu-204 this year will not be exact. I do not know how in the next, I do not know ... It depends on Andrei and Dmitri more. For the remaining projects. Tu-154 project is the porting of PT-154B-2 in FSX. We are working on. Once I will not say - out of my hands. depends more on how quickly I will withdraw from the PNA variables for the remaining part of the VC. VC is fully clickable and three-dimensional. The rest, well you already know what the PT-154B-2. At the same time we are working on two projects. Both of them are in a state of "already flies from developers." The second project is also based on the PNA C. Gritsevskogo carried over from the 9-Ki-10 of. Moreover, if all be the second project will provide an opportunity to realize a number of machines that are so well based on its PNA. I will not knowingly do or show, because it will cause quite a predictable reaction, which is not necessary either to me personally or my friends and comrades in the development, or TP, none of those who in one way or another work or work on this project

As much as i would love to see the PT TU-154 in FSX,having personally read their desire to not have it ported to FSX, i must question the legality and ethics of such a move.. Its simply not right.. I'm sorry.

Well, he's a rather known name in the Russian sim scene, so I have a feeling that he's in contact with part the PT team over it. He has a well known history with the Ilyushin series, and I believe he's helped other teams with projects.

    Also, per the PT forum:

    "
PT Team greets any specialist who who wants to help us with the development on free-of-charge base, as well as PT Team is goodwilling to help any person or a team (advisorily or giving source materials) who wants to develop Tu-154 for FSX in individual manner which is based on seriousness of their intensions."

    Thanks Sean. Much appreciated..

On a side note, I downloaded the Vitamin TU-154 listed previously in this thread and loaded it into FSX, but, the VC gauges are all silver. I copied the supplied VC textures to both the panel folder and the texture folder, but no joy, they are still shiny silver.. Does anyone know of an existing fix for this??

Yes this is what I'm trying to fix... I filled up most of the holes in the Vitamin Tu-154M with VC... It looks better but not completely satisfying yet... FPS are dipping in the lows 10 now... but with this version avionics are easier to use: just flip on all the switches on all the 2D panels (overhead, engineer, etc...) and here you go! Too bad VC is not clickable... For the ADI to power up, use the button just on top of the V button on the "RUD" 2D panel (do this last, after the engines are running). I'll try to attach to this message my panel.cfg I've tweaked so far... Attachment 50800

I'm using the 154m_v3_06.air file from a PT version (Project Tupolev)... not sure if it works better or not... but it works!

    And I'm using eyepoint = 61.50, -1.50, 4.80

    For smoke:

    [SMOKESYSTEM]
    smoke.0=-33.00, -8.50, 1.00, fx_smoke_f6
    smoke.1=-36.00, 0.00, 1.00, fx_smoke_f6
    smoke.2=-33.00, 8.50, 1.00, fx_smoke_f6

Ohh....looks like one of the most compatible FSX 154s to date!
Let me know when you think you're done with it, and post all necessary files and steps to take in order to get it in the sim properly. This looks like it may be worth trying out.
Also, I noticed a large untextured area on the forward part of the overhead panel. Were you able to fix that at all?

Also, would replacing the double GPS units on the sides of the cockpit with the actual weather radar that the PT comes with work? Not sure if it is compatible with FSX.
    (Also may boost frames)

Welllll, apparently, i dont have any gauges at all.. Must admit that I havent spent any time looking for them, but with a black 2D panel screen, and no gauges in the VC I can only assume that i'm missing a part of the plane.. I'll have to look around and see what i can figure out..
    Pam

Well, I have yet to see all of Vonstroheim's resources, but he's using components of the Tu-154M, so make sure you have that on your computer somewhere (not necessarily installed, just to access the files).

    http://files.protu-154.net/

It's not going to work just to have the VITAMIN' resources alone.

As for the rest of the technical info on this conversion, that's in his field, I'm just watching!

Right, You'll have to use this file from avsimrus. There you'll get all the needed gauges and 2d panel bitmaps...

    Noted on the downloads!

When you get everything sorted how you want, can you toss us a panel.cfg and any other custom files that you've created in order to supplement this?

    Also, from my previous post:

The "groza_154_4_01!ICU" radar gauge doesn't show up in FSX... Default GPS is maybe not such a good idea either...

And yes lot's of big holes in the overhead...

You guys are awesome. Thank you.. I've got the gauges showing now, but still working out how to get them turned on and working.. Gotta admit, when it comes to panels and such like that, i'm a dummy..

Hunt down all the switches in the 2D panel (mostly hidden in overhead and engineer's) and click on it, all of them... most are just static images, some are active. Mouse cursor changes over the active ones... CTRL+E (autostart) helps a bit after fuel and power are on...

The VC is looking better now, almost no holes, but what an ugly mix-n-match of gauges from various versions of the Tu-154 and other soviet aircrafts...... not too proud of it.. I've made a static dummy radar to fill the void... and patched some holes with fake texture...

    Attachment 50827 Attachment 50829

This is the content of my panel folder... You'll have to locate by yourself the missing files at avsimrus or Projet Tupolev website... Most of the other ones are in 41246-Tu-154M-dlya-FSX.zip and the Tu-154M Vitamin with VC is 23722-154-vit.zip (both at avsimrus).

    Attachment 50830
And my latest panel.cfg with missing texture and fake radar... Attachment 50831

Was it a good idea to take a day off just to play with this Tu-154 VC panel ? Not sure... I end up with a low-FPS but good looking bird with "lite" russian avionics... and still not FSX native... Nothing to write home about...

    Attachment 50832 Attachment 50834

    To be continued... maybe...
