    It most certainly did...

and great to see the McLaren M8F, best of that all-conquering breed.
Bruce McLaren started tinkering with big engines in his garage, about a half hour drive from where I now live.
    Amazing what those cars achieved.

I've lived outside Monterey my entire life but I can never seem to find the time to see the historics. I really have to go some time, that 787B is calling my name with that sweet rotary sound. I have had the chance to see my cousin race Formula Vee and Formula Fords there. Those are great little cars.

With hindsight (what a wonderful power!) I'd say the first five laps of a Can Am round was great, then the Bruce and Denny show would power off into the distance.
Nostalgia aside, the "Racing" was fairly average, but the cars were a-bloody-stounding!!!
As usual, the first step on the downhill slope was the decision to ban the amazing Jim Hall "Sucker Car", originally the regulations for the Can Am were simple, Rule #1, "There are no regulations", Rule#2, "See Rule #1".
The really off the wall cars were my favourites, for instance, the "Mac-It Special" with four Snowmobile engines, one for each wheel ...............
    "Illegitimum non carborundum".
