I had revamped the S2T flight dynamics but haven't transferred them over to the fire fighting version as yet. Need to get to that soon...

Wow! You take advantage of every little nook and cranny don't ya! :-) Once you darken that up, she will look very realistic.
At the risk of sounding really ungreatful for all of Milton's (et all) wonderful work, I have realized that there is one additional item that would certainly be the "frosting on the cake". A great many of us fly these superb aircraft in their natural element - off the carrier. Whether you are using it with a static carrier in Fs9, or a moving one in FSX, you will use one of the catapult functions (3-wire, Acceleration etc.) to catapult back into the air. The C-1A/E-1B/S-2E did not use a launch bar (hadn't been invented yet), they had a "bridle" that was attached by the Cat crew at mid fuselage and extended forward to the shuttle in the catapult. RazBam, Skippy Bing etc. are now incorporating a Bridle into their appropriate aircraft. It appears under the aircraft (it's in the .mdl) when the holdback function is selected (normally when setting the brake in Fs9, or selecting shift + L in FSX). It makes the aircraft look extremely realistic while awaiting the Cat shot. The bridle disappears as soon as the launch key combination is selected (Milton: I'm sure you already know all of this). Is it too late to consider a bridle - or was it previously considered and rejected? I certainly won't be disappointed with this beautiful set of aircraft if the answer is no, but I just felt I should bring it up (albeit VERY late). Bill
Thanks for that input. Frankly, I have never heard of the bridle, and of all the pictures I have and scoured, I do not recall seeing it. Interesting.
Hi Milton, Check out the first of these slides (and one other): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDqNc80bO-A The bridle is the cable that you see under the S-2. I'll see if I can find better. Bill
Here ya go.

Thanks Duckie. That's the first time I have seen this not being a Navy guy.
Your welcome. The bridal is what attaches the aircraft to the catapult shuttle and slings it off the deck! 0 to 120 in under 3 seconds! That will out drag a Chevrolet!
This one appears to have just been shot! Notice the prop tip condensation "cork screw" forming aft if the prop.

Duckie, I don't think it's been shot as the hold-back link is still in place. But he is reving up in anticipation, though!

A tad high and a tad hot is better than a tad low and a tad slow - H52
That is an awesome picture. I wonder if there are any YouTube videos of this action from a similar vantage point.
And, have you seen any pictures or drawings of the bridle.
You're right H52, the hold-back is still holding! I guess the corkscrew is from the ship making knots! That copilot is hanging on too.
BTW, the gear wells for the -1 are all done.

Duckie: Wonderful shot of the bridle. Thanks. Do you have, or does anyone know, if the NATOPS manual for either the C-1A, E-1B (WF-1) or S-2E happens to have an illustration of the bridle? I'm sensing that Milton is getting interested - but we need to give him better data if we are going to get a bridle for these aircraft. Anyone???
Milton: I have looked at MANY Youtubes for better bridle shots, but so far without success. I haven't given up, but the best option is some official documentation.
Bill
Well, I am interested in its operation. However, I see no animation tags or mention of it in the FS9 Makemdl animation parts list so modeling one would be an issue for me.
Hi there,
I checked the NATOPS Flight Manuals for the E-1B, the S-2A/B/C/F, and the S-2D/E. In neither of them I saw an illustration of the bridle. Sorry guys.
Maybe it can can be found in a maintenance manual, but I don't have those, at least not for these aircraft.
Cheers,
Maarten
