Interesting - I keep a pretty close eye on Revell kits released in France and Germany (which is repectively where I live and where I buy a lot of my kits as they're cheaper there) and I never saw this one. If you or Rene see one on a shelf anywhere behind God's hindquarters, let me know! Looking at the instruction sheet I've just downloaded from Revell.de, I can guess why it wasn't released here - the swastikas, even if the Finnish swastika predates the Nazi effort and has no connection whatsoever to it.

Which is a pity, because despite the rivets and raised panel lines, I'm sure I could have done something useful with it. I've got the 1/48th Tamiya Buffalo to hand, but that would require an incredible amount of work to bring it back to B-239 standard. I mighgt just half-close my eyes to the differences, make it more-or-less from the box, and paint it in Finnish colours anyway. I've already got an RAAF one in the collection...

Here you go Bill, here's Geoffrey Fisken's Mk I.
I had already almost finished it's sister aircraft W8137, R.A. Weber's mount, from the same Squadron. Both will be added to the PTO.

Yes Bill, I'll make sure it's done, actually working on the RAF/RAAF/ RNZAF textures at the moment, I'll post some shots when it looks decent!

    Thanks for the link.

    ...beautiful skin, John (as always).

Is this an example of a Brewster that would've been keeping company with Blenhiems and Hurry's whilst fighting Oscars in the PTO?

Obviously, it cannot be called a success story.... but in the defense of Midway Island, United States Marine Corps fighter group VMF-221 operated a mixed group of 20 Brewster F2A-3 Buffalos and six Grumman F4F-3 Wildcats. The squadron first saw action on 10 March 1942 when a Kawanishi H6K "Mavis" flying boat was shot down by Captain James L. Neefus near Midway, the Buffalo's first kill in US service.
