Help please with identifying an aircraft from an old photo

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could ID the aircraft that is on the bottom right of this photo? There are three of them in the photo, the other one being the one in full view at the top of the photo facing the open hanger doors, and the other one is just of it's left wing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you,
    redrooster
The propeller is just a big fan in front of the plane used to keep the pilot cool. When it stops, you can actually watch the pilot start sweating.

Pretty certain we're looking at some Curtiss O-52 Owls here.......

The general configuration is unusual - the clinchers are the tall fin/rudder and the faired radio loop.

No probs, Redrooster - I take it you I/D'd the O-46's as well ???

If that is Hillsgrove, then it's now an airport I know well -T.F.Green in dear old RI (where lefty's brother lurks).

Interesting photo - any more ???????

Hey, sorry about the late reply, and yes, there are lots more! They were taken by my grandfather who was stationed there.

Some really nice pictures there, sharp and very professional-looking - your grandad knew his way round a camera ! (Not grainy enough for our Moses, though..)
    Great characters too.

I like the comment about the 'approach too low' as the machine was being fished out of the water - slight understatement there.
