    Glad to hear it, you are welcome, anywhere anytime.

    As far as I know, the 2004 paints work perfectly. There are a lot of them. Most very hi-viz.

    As for the VC or 2D panel I must check, retrace my steps, as it has been perhaps even 3 years since I tried a thing or two on the Navy/Marine F-4 package. I'm certain there are ----or were---several updates of various kinds that could be downloaded and some quite recently. A search should produce results.

    I'll get back ASAP but real life demands my time so gimme a bit. But others readers must know more than I do. Together we'll get results. Gotta go do the chores.

    Thanks! No matter when you are able to help solve the issues, I appreciate anything you can do, whenever!

    Howdy,

    The F-4 panels are all fixable. What we have here is another FSX texture transparency handling issue. Now I know that is a total surprise to everyone, but luckily this one is very easy to fix. This only fixes the backgrounds, not the gauges.

    To fix Package 1:
    1. Back up your panel.cfg in case you don’t like the fix
    2. Open the panel.cfg file
    3. Add the following lines:
    Under Vcockpit02

    file=PanelFix1.bmp

    and under Vcockpit03

    file=RadarFix1.bmp

    4. Paste the following .bmp files into the panel folder, making sure the name is “PanelFix1.bmp, and RadarFix1.bmp”and size is 1024x1024

    Attachment 29856

    Attachment 29857

    To fix Package 2:
    1. Back up your panel.cfg in case you don’t like the fix
    2. Open the panel.cfg file
    3. Add the following lines:
    Under Vcockpit02

    file=PanelFix2.bmp

    and under Vcockpit03

    file=radarfix2.bmp

    4. Paste the following .bmp files into the panel folder, making sure the name is “PanelFix2.bmp, and RadarFix2.bmp”, and size is 1024x1024

    That’s it,
    They should look like normal. The bleed through on the package 2 instrument bezels is from the color depth conversions, if I get some time I will see about fixing that.
    Now if anyone can ever figure out the FSX concord visor issue, both the Crusader and Phantom’s refueling probe will work too. But that’s another issue.
    Oh Yeah, if you have the new (not freeware) Alphasim F-105, the ADI and HIS look GREAT in the Phantom!

    Dan,

    Thanks so much, and sounds easy enough. Maybe a dumb question, but where is the
    PanelFix.bmp file located? Is it already part of the files somewhere, or do I download it?

    Thanks.

    I was hoping the files in the post would be useable with a simple "save as" but I just tried it and it doesn't work out very well. You can use them, but they turn out very pixilated. I will work on assembling a fix file for upload this week.

    The thread mentions work on gauges as well so it might be well to contact since the work of many is sure to get results in my opinion. The project being very worthy.

    Hey HvyEng, why don't you zip up what you used and upload it here?

    That way we have it even if you clean up your attachments.

    Thumbs up Looking good

    Sounds that are part of the package are good---loud--- and "borrowing" outside aircraft views is easy.
    Taxi seems good to me at minimum throttle gets a few knots. Runway landings are stable. Carrier traps require more precise attention to weight, flaps, speed, and AoA. I'm currently using 145 KIAS with 3rd flap position and very low fuel weight, only crew weight in payload. Speed brakes are not extended. In package one the F-4B and F-4J get my hours. I bought it long ago, moved it into FSX, and used an update for the cockpit.

    It is great to have the other 2 packages and plenty of checkflights lined up, lol. Love that Weasel.

    But that update is now old apparently going back to May 2007. And was for a 2D panel which I very rarely use.

    It is likely current efforts will prove better.

    Ditto here - stick to this and it is fairly easy (e.g. at least compared to the AS Crusader or Vigi) to do consistent good traps without a crash. I trap with crash detections on.

    Looking forward to trying your VC texture fixes - thanks Dan.

    Also, for Pack 1 does anyone know of a panel.cfg update that isolates all the problematic gauges? I have swapped some out but one in particular, I think it is "Tornado RadarAlt" or something like that causes at least 4 error messages on each flight load which is annoying, but I cannot see any gauge with a name like this in the gauge entries. Suspect it is embedded in some other gauge, or maybe it's just that I am blind . .
    Well I've been to one World Fair a picnic and a rodeo and that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard come over a set of earphones.
