Thread: Video Capture?

    Question Video Capture?

What would be the best freeware video capture program to record fs9 flights as AVI or maybe MP4?
I have seen several high quality FS videos and tried a few programs, but don't seem to get it right...

The latest FSRecorder module (ver 2.16) has a new tool that allows "rendering" a flight to video, which is a bit different than a live capture. The plus side is that you can max all the graphic sliders and scenery and AI traffic that you want, and you still end up with beautifully smooth video.

The down side - no sound is recorded when you make the rendering. The video format is limited to wmv, though the drop down menu shows MP4 as well. It might be a matter of what video codecs you have installed.

You can get all the details from the FSRecorder website at: http://www.fs-recorder.net/

This subject seems to be a bit more complex than I first thought!...
All I want to do is press a button! :-)
I downloaded the latest Sony trial and have been playing around with it, but have no clue how to capture FS!
Another free trial was Camtasia Studio 7.
It works at a frame rate of 2-3 instead of my locked 40! Webcam recording is fine though.
As for FS Recorder, I use it. But the recorded flights are saved in a binary file format containing flight data and can thus only be played back inside FS. These files are not video files, so it is not possible to play them with a video or media player, or to convert them into video files.
I will have an in depth insight into this and your suggestions,
thanks for your help so far!
    Regards, Stuart

The latest FSrecorder beta version CAN record videos as movie format with some restrictions (instead as datas like in the regular version)
    3) Sony Vegas is a gas factory and need some learning before use it with efficiency ! but very useful for edit movies
    4) Camtasia Studio 7 is not really good for record FS2004 videos
If you want use another software instead FRAPS or latest FSrecorder beta .. try this:

    This works great: http://www.zdsoft.com!
    Thanks for the tips Claudius.
The FPS is still a little slow but acceptable for my purposes.(could be my graphics card).
And it's one button control! F8: Record, F8 again: Stop!
I will see how I get on with it and might get the full version.
    Thanks again...!
