Thread: Add-Ons won't show up

    Icon17 Add-Ons won't show up

I guess that about tells the story, really.

I have reinstalled CFS2 and now it seems as though none of the Add On Aircraft show up.

I am at a loss here I don't know what happened. They show up as a selection but when I choose them the scenery build doesn't seem to pick them up. (That is the best way I know to describe the problem.)

Any ideas out there? I am truly at a loss.

    Okoutlaw,

If you are using Vista, turn off the user account protection.

Did you use the CD installer to uninstall CFS2 prior to reinstalling?

If you have not, good, maybe your addon aircraft can be saved.

    NO SHOWS

First ,and foremost, go to the obvious. Make sure that the planes are not "aliased" to something you do not have. Like the stock zero sound or something like that.

Sorry guys.... I have been very busy since I posted this and I have not been here for a while.
I have checked everything as suggested and so far I am still coming up empty. I was sure that one of you might have had this also.
All of your suggestions are really greatly appreciated and they are all valid (OF COURSE!!) You guys are the greatest but I am still at a loss.
I have reloaded the program several times and I am still not able to reload the aircraft. I was kinda hoping for a simple fix (LOL) but it seems that it doesn't really want to be that way. By the way I am still looking though, if I don't answer right away don't think that I am losing faith in you, I am just quite busy. Com'on winter so I can slow down!!

Thanks a lot guys for the effort.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark here.

Did you reinstall CFS2 over an old copy on your computer? If so that's the problem. Everything will go back to the original configuration and no addons will work. In that case you will have to put the addons back in like you did before.

Okay, I give up everything suggested has no effect on the problem, now I have to wonder if it could be the program itself. I really do appreachiate the help you guys offer because I know I am in the right place to get the best information.

My original CDs were all scratched and messed up so I bought a new set off the net, and they are put out by Explosive(??) anybody know of problems fro this outfit?

The next move is to reformat the drive I have the sim on and try that, geeze I hate to start that...LOL!

Thanks guys for your support, As always the best place to be is in the Basemnet

    Hi OKOutlaw,

I'm sorry you have not been able to recover your previous install of CFS2. It happens to us all.

Explosive have been distributing CFS2 in the UK. I have bought the disks for friends, they are fine.
The problem you have had is an issue with the CD uninstaller. It will remove configuration files from your add ons, effectively destroying them. Reinstalling CFS2 will not recover corrupted addons.

Further more, the uninstaller will not remove all addon files, only those with generic names like aircraft.cfg.

This means that an install that is broken may not be repaired by running the CD uninstaller

Fortunately CFS2 is not registry dependant, (I'm sorry if you don't know what that means) Simply renaming or deleting the \..\Combat Flight Simulator 2 folder will allow you to install a fresh copy to new disk space.
