    T-38A....cockpit sides...what color?

    I am working on a paint template for the freeware FSD T-38A (can be found on simviation.com). The original paints have a blotchy blackish/dark gray for the cockpit sides. What color would be used on the sides?

    I Obio, if everything is standard, the color should be FS 36231 aka Dark Gull Gray, as I say that's the standard interior color for USAF aircraft from before that up to now.

    Thanks for the info Ascua. That lighter color should make the cockpit of the T-38A much less gloomy.

    OBIO, I did a complete redo of the textures for the VC in the T-38. If you want to download those from the SOH download area, you might be able to incorporate them with what you're doing.

    Falcon

    Found your package...it is for the payware version of the FSD T-38 with the digital gauges. I am working on the freeware version that has the analog gauges. Will see what parts of your tweaked VC textures can be carried over to what I am working on. Will be sure to give you credit for any of your work I use. Thanks.

    Okay, been working on incorporating Falcon409's VC enhancement into the freeware FSD T-38 with its analog gauges...the only real difference is where the Attitude and HSI gauges are. In the payware version of the FSD T-38, those are digital. The rest of the VC is the same. Here are a couple screen shots showing the stock VC texture and the new VC using Falcon's work.

    Still have a bit of tweaking to do around the attitude and HSI gauges, but this will give you a clue as to what you can look forward to.

    Looks like Falcon also cleaned up the gauges on the left and right consoles. I didn't care for the fuzziness. Looking forward to the improvements.

    I also noticed that the gauges look sharper with Falcon's panel image in place....not sure if it is due to the sharper details that Falcon put into his work or the fact that the panel is now in 32-bit format instead of DXT3.

    I also just made adjustments to the panel config file. The pixel size settings in the virtual cockpit were small...I set them to 1024,1024 in most cases.....there is one that is rectangular so I set it to 512,1024...which is four times the stock size. I haven't tested the new settings yet...but if the pizel size increase does what it normally does, the gauges should be even sharper.

    I tested the new pixel size settings in the T-38's panel config...the verdict. NICE! The gauges are so much sharper and so much easier to read. I will do some copy and pasting in this post so you folks can add the tweaks to your panel config and enjoy sharper gauges. Just copy and paste these new headers for the various VC sections into your panel config file.

    [Vcockpit01]
    Background_color=0,0,0
    size_mm=128,256
    visible=0
    pixel_size=512,1024
    texture=$radio

    [Vcockpit02]
    Background_color=0,0,0
    size_mm=256,256
    visible=0
    pixel_size=1024,1024
    texture=$manpress

    [Vcockpit03]
    Background_color=0,0,0
    size_mm=762
    visible=0
    pixel_size=1024,1024
    texture=$vcday

    There ya go....sharper gauges are just a few clicks away!
