Could be interesting. If it's an "unofficial sequel" to "Pearl Harbor", then I guess we can expect to see 25 Japanese carriers, and 500 Vals attacking Yorktown!![]()

PRB,
That, and let's just make sure Josh Hartnett and Ben Affleck don't sleep with the same girl again.

Sure hope it's not a sequel to Pearl Harbor.
I reported onboard the Lexington when they were wrapping up filming the 1976 version. A few of my old shipmates are in the backgrounds in that version. It'd be hard to beat that one for me to begin with.

I hope it's not another chick flick disguised as a war movie! :(

....Anything would be better than the 1976 release of "Midway" starring Charlton Heston and Henry Fonda. From hooky dialogue lines and overacting,....to inserting old documentary film clips of aircraft never flown in the Battle of Midway,...such as the Grumman F6F Hellcat...this feature movie is painful to watch. So I don't.
On 2nd thought,.....not sure if I'd watch this one too,....might bring back torturous memories of the first one.......best to stick to the documentaries or a good book on the engagement.

The 1976 Midway relied heavily on stock footage of WWII carrier ops, some of which was inaccurate for mid-1942. Almost all the gun camera scenes were lifted from The Fighting Lady. With computer graphics nowadays it's possible to show the battle as it actually played out. Imagine the scene of Torpedo Eight's TBD's bravely making their runs as they're shot down one by one, until only Ens. Gay's plane is left. Or a panoramic view of a Japanese carrier as one of the Army B-26's flies the length of the flight deck, guns blazing. Pretty awesome.![]()
I recognize Bruce McKenna's name. He was one of the directors that did Band of Brothers. With that on his resume, I'd say the film is in good hands.
A 3D Movie of the Battle of Midway? Yikes ... them bullets are gonna be comin at us ...

This dates me! Remember watching "Victory at Sea" Television series, 1950's era. Link relating to the Midway battle of that series: http://victoryatseaonline.com/episode04.html
I saw Midway in a theater when it first came out. They had some type of new sound system that rattled the theater and tickled your guts when an engine started. It didn't last but it was rather neat for it's time.
