She's a beauty :salute: - it just blows my mind that we, as a nation, have exactly one of these birds still flying :isadizzy:, and that only because of the generosity of private citizens. .

Did anyone watch that special on PBS about those guys who went to Greenland (pretty sure it was Greenland) to salvage a B-29 that had been abandoned there back in the late 40s some time?it just blows my mind that we, as a nation, have exactly one of these birds still flying
They couldn't just leave well enough alone. The plane had been sitting their in nearly pristine condition for nearly 60 years and they went up there and in the course of a couple months managed to melt it into an unrecognizable puddle of aluminum. I was so mad.

All because of a defective aux heater unit, as I recall. Kinda' reminds me of Rick Nelson and that same problem with his DC-3!
