SOON!
:::LOL:; Patience ::LOL:::..
theres a long way to go internally first, and Roberts been focusing on the outside for a few weeks now in order to let the painters get a head start on the liveries.. Also, i ran into a problem today that I thought was in my fde, with not being able to get above 12000 feet using fsx real time weather. Itd get up there and the speed would fall off and down i'd go.. Tuurns out it also happened with my WOP B-17 and mt L-749.. Something weird with fsx i guess.. I'm also developing Sorceress more. Shes being made into a hybrid p-61B/C model with C model engines installed and a top end of 456 mph specifically for racing here at SOH... Shes fun

if it was a 1 off in real life, then it wont get approved :(
From US Army Air Force Fighters, Part 2, pg 53:
"Testing of the P-61C began in July 1945 but the aircraft was found to be sluggish and difficult to handle, with a tendency to 'wallow' in flight, at weights above 35,000 lb, whilst a clear take off distance of at least three miles was needed at a weight of 40,000 lb. Only 41 P-61Cs had been built when further production was terminated on V-J Day."
Hmm...

From direct sources, she was found to be agile and fast. Very fighter like. The reason the termination of the P-61C was that there was no more use for them since newer technology was out during the period before and during the Korean war.
"If three-holers are gas guzzlers, why are there four-holers now???"
"But what do i know? I'm just the 800 pound guerrilla in the room."
Fire! Fire! Your pants better not be on fire....
Yeah, but see, the 40000 pounds they're talking about is the weight of a fully loaded bomb run, and even then, 41000 was the absolute maximum weight you could have for take off.. complete empty dry weight on the C model was less than 30000 pounds.. and at that weight?? :::LOL:: She's like flying the worlds biggest eagle..
I have some .pdf's of P-61 reference books in my collection, some of which are out of print now, what are you developers using? PM me if you are scratching about for any details.
Actually your only partially correct. the P-61C was really cancelled because the new escort fighter that the military chose was the twin mustang on the basis it was 100 mph faster than the p-61C ( over 500 mph ). The P-61C model however could have easily held its own ( speed wise and turning wise ) against a normal p-51. A third reason for the cancellation f the p-61 series on the whole was the cost. These were some of the most expensive fighters of world war two, and they really pit a dent in the military budget.. However, none of that lesens in any way the P-61C as being a very good fighter ( not great, just very good ) and one of the fastest during the war..
heh.. we're the ultimate scroungers. we use everything we can get ::LOL::.. Please yes, if your able and willing to share, we woild greatly appreciate more documentation. Currently, we are using the P-61 Pilots operation manual: America's hundred thousand; Squadron Signal: Northrop p-61 black Widow in action; Warbird tech: northrop p-61 black Widow and Northrop P-61 Black Widow by Miroslav Balous, plus the USAAF Training film available on you tube..
PM coming soon
Pam
