Next from Lionheart Creations; Boeing 797 Blended Wing

    Hey all,

This is next. This is a freeware (first release) that will be first for FS2004, then later for FSX. This is the flying wing Dreadnaught from Boeing, the 1000 seater 'Blended Wing' Boeing B-797.

Doing it for a friend that doesnt have one for FS9.

Freeware will not have a VC. (arrgh, spit! how can you do that??? ACKK!!!) yes.. bad news, I know. We will have a really nice 2D panel though.

I am already into negotiations with Boeing and about to submit the official license application which will enable me to be an official, legal Boeing flight sim representative. Then I can do a high detail VC, super detailed FSX version, and also make the Boeing Bird of Prey... (I want to make that one bad!)

This flying wing is actually beautiful. With the engines off the top, you see a very sharp design. The front cone looks a bit awkward, like it still has some 'tubeliner' in it, but the rest is awesome.

Note, views are work in progress. Front portholes or windows are crooked. Still mapping it.

Well in the "Real Thing", everything will be driven off the MFD's anyway.
So no need for all those little push-pull switches, see?
Cameras all over the place will provide all the views you need, too.

This is great news, can't wait to park one at Heathrow!

    Roger that.

Remember, as huge as it looks, its still the same wingspan as a 747. :d

I've been hoping someone would do one of these beauties for FS9 so I'm really looking forward to this.

Oh, and BTW Bill, my compliments on your Bugatti package - truly a work of art.

awesome , i just love blended wing airplanes .
so the freeware is without vc , i assume a payware version will be with VC but would the VC/payware one be also FS9 or just FSX ?

    Hey Strega,

I accidentally started a VC today. This will be for FS9 and FSX freeware, but the VC will not have elaborate avionics as they cost a small fortune to negotiate and or have created. The Payware would have that. I would like to do one with an FMC. Who knows.

    VC is looking great....

Stock gauges would be fine! Heck - I've got a freeware triple engine glass panel that would work good enough for me!

    Looking very nice Bill!

I remember there used to be a simpler version of this back on FS2002, twill be nice to have one for FS9! Always thought it was a shame Boeing didn't have the courage of their convictions and build this instead of the Dreamliner.

I was sad that they didnt make the Dreamliner as they portrayed it at first. It looks basically like a regular 737. All the sexy curves and windscreen disappeared in the real world version. I agree though. I think the BWB would be one awesome airliner.

The FS2002 version was actually made (from what I was told) for FS2000 and worked in FS2002, but in FS2004, the landing gear wouldnt appear when on the ground. Thats why I am creating one.

    Should be an interesting plane.

    Great stuff...

Actually, browsing the FSX thread on this bird, I do wonder how they might overcome the problem of pressurising such a flat shape.
It's no accident that pressure vessels are as close to spherical and cylindrical as possible: the pressure is taken in tension of the material, rather than bending.
A big flat surface would have to be pretty heavily rib-reinforced (and thus heavy) to resist a useful internal pressure.

It's just alot "fatter" in the middle -- lol: (I just had to toss that in there for the fun of it)

A very generous effort on your part, Sir Lionheart. Looking forward to it's release.

Looks like a nice project Bill, I'm looking forward to flying it.

Good luck with Boeing. I had to get their permission for a McDonnell Douglas house livery a few years back and they made us jump thro' hoops for months, repainting over and over again, and then we never did get the go ahead. No other manufacturer has given us any probs.

Seems Bill has cracked that nut - congratulations!

Actually, looking at some of the screenshots and those futuristic fuel trucks....
We have plenty of retro stuff in FS, how about opening a window into, say, 2030?
Now there's a whole world waiting for someone with a little technical imagination and modelling skills!
